I need to boost business sales

Options
I am having a sale in my clothes shop and over the next few months will be selling my items at a % off.
To advertise my sale i will be doing the following:
posters in window advertising the sale.
leafletting my local area houses.
ad in local paper.
flyers handed out to shoppers in town.
posters in or near entrance to local factories.
A3 size posters on local lamposts.
All above would of course show shop address and website address.

I would consider Ebay but suspect it is now a little near to Christmas and sales would be almost nonexistent over or just after Christmas (up to the end of january at least).

Any thoughts or other ideas would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

  • Hello,

Try this angle - a charity fashion show ! Choose a local charity and offer and commit to give them a % of on the night sales. Reduce your prices for the night only. Finally and most importantly, get onto the local paper. They will love the charity angle and will give you column inches as it is a good read for their paper. After the event, follow up with a good story and a picture. More advertising for your shop.

    Good luck

Having witnessed what it takes to organise a charity fashion show, I'd respectfully suggest that while offering to support such an event would be good publicity, organising it yourself might end up costing more than you can really afford without significantly boosting sales.

A really smart window display might help (I'm sure it always is) and changing it could also tempt people in (because if they don't come in, they certainly won't spend any money!) Perhaps not offering a 'personal shopper' service, but making it clear that you will give each shopper personal attention and whatever help they need - running in and out with outfits etc.

Is your shop man friendly? Having a comfy chair and today's paper visible from the door may get more couples in ...

  • Everyone is offering money off this money off that. You need to offer more incentives. What kind of clothes shop is it? If it's aimed at women offer a free glass of wine and mince pie on arrival, free play area for the kids while mums and dads shop, free gift bag for the first 500 customers! I know a site that offers free advertising for businesses if they offer a discount. I'm new here so not sure if i can post links here. PM me for name.
