  • Visited my branch they were still very confused by what the proceedures they should follow and had to phone head office. They told me I had 30 days in which to produce the certificate & fund the account from the time it was opened.I would need to contact them as soon as I have the certificate and bring proof with me that I had applied for the ISA online.I have contacted Halifax by phone and they still havent any clue what has happened to my ISA application.Said I should get something through the post following my application but cant see on system if it is going through etc. Also told me that if I dont get anything through the post, I may need to re apply with them,so I will get it at todays interest rates! :-(
I cant believe that a Bank this size wouldnt have had at least an internal memo sent to the entire savings department/s to notify them of the proceedure to follow with the potential thousands of Icesave customers transfering.

If you open on line you will receive postal confirmation later with your roll no.
With this roll no, go into your local branch where you can give details of your ID and pay in your cash in my case Cheque to fund the acct.
You are right when you say they don't seem to know what they are doing you have to explain and, after they phone someone up or go off to ask or type a load of stuff into their computer and read out their staff info stick to your guns and demand a receipt for everything don't get me wrong the staff are nice enough but everything about the Isa procedure seems difficult.
Then today my wife having received Isa cert decided to take it into local branch say no more this time we had 20mins worth still got my cert to receive and then?
The best way to deal with an account (online) is to ring customer services I ring 08456000169 as they can fix things quick and seem to know what they are talking about
  • Ok thanks for that numberI shall give it a try.Following on from my last post I phoned them again and my application still hasnt shown up on their system, two weeks this sunday and still nothing in the post either.I have a confirmation email in the post that says something wilL be sent in 14 days, however much use this is I dont know.Usual thing of no one taking responsibility.
  • Rang them numerous times now and been into my branch 3 times. They have been provided with all the information they require in the last two visits, itll be almost be a week since I was told the certificate has been faxed over and ,the money is still sitting in my account.Really quite disappointed at Halifax, only bank I have ever been with and they are so incompetent that they are unable to read a certificate and carry out an internal transfer.I cant contact Halifax until into Jan next year now,as I can only do it via email,so Ill have lost almost a months interest due to their iincompetent staff.Going to send a complaint to Halifax,to see if they provide the lost interest, Im toying with moving bank otherwise.

Thing is -they will give you interest from the time your money was put in your account and your acc will be from the date you opened it just make sure you keep asking them to confirm it for you.The handy thing is being able to call in a branch for that ID thingy and lob in your cheques etc some like all/leicester just go dumb if you mention online accounts and don't wanna know you.The halifax staff are nice enough but seem clueless apart from the online service team that is.how did you get on with them

Unable to contact them by phone until later but I checked my isa account on wed and it showed that they had transfered the money over, but I looked yesterday and those funds had disappeared from both the funding account and my Isa!Today I dont have these funds in either account but they are in another account of mine, but it does not show any input of those funds over the last few days.I can trace back the account the funds are now in and my statement doenst show these funds as being in my accouint for the dates shown online.I also tried trasnfering funds yesterday and it wouldnt let me!
  • Money transferred from Halifax current account three weeks ago by the branch manager & all Icesave paperwork provided, having previously opened the fixed ISA account on line.

Isa still showing on line as Awaiting Details. Chased it up three times over the phone - all they say is that they are very busy becuase of Icesave transfers & please be patient!
