for a 2 bed house ive budgeted 80 a month for both. after 4 weeks, by bill for both gas and electric was just over 50. that will be reduced over the coming months as 2 people have been home all day, 2 showers a day, washing machine on 3 times a week, heating on 6 hours a day/
since having that bill, ive changed the heating time to 3 hours a day, only 1 shower a day since 1 person is away for 3 months, washing machine on 2 times a week, changed all lightbulbs bar 2 to energy saving lightbulbs and switched off the hotwater as its linked to the central heating. have an electric shower so dont reall need hot water as its just as easy to boil a kettle to wash up.
i would over budget rather than under and that way it wont be a shock when you do get your bill.
good luck and enjoy your new place.Debt free 3 years early :j

it depends who you like. its best to get recomendations from family and friends. npower is ment to be cheaper than british gas for me, but i have heard horrid things about npower and will never go with them due to the way they have messed around friends bills. parents have had horrid problems with british gas and their customer service.
im in the middle of switching to eon, maintly because they are slightly more expensive than npower, but cheaper than british gas and for every quid i spend with them i get a tesco clubcard point.
it really is best trying a comparison site and seeing who comes out cheapest in your area and then going wtih recomendations from family and friends with regards to their service.Debt free 3 years early :j
