dyson brush not going around

Options
I've got an upright dyson. It is picking up but not very good as the brush underneath has stopped going around. I know how to fix it. The problem is, Dyson have used 'bizarre' screws. They are plastic & quite shallow. I cannot undo them with any screw drivers I have or any types of those 'keys' used to tighten nuts/bleed radiators.

Help anyone?!

'Fraid you'll have to get the right driver. I have a set with one handle and individual screwdriver bits, which has the appropriate bit in it.

You'll just wreck the screw heads if you try to use anything else.

(Edit: Scrap that, I've just seen the reply below about the large slotted screws which can be turned with a coin. These weren't what I thought you meant, I thought you meant the hexagonal ones which you need a specialised bit for.)

Dysons have internal belts that can go and stop the brush turning, are you sure it's something you can actually fix even if you got the screws undone?

  • Dyson have made it easier for anybody to undo parts ment to be cleaned regularly. The slots are meant to accept a 2p coin or similar, is this what you are talking about?

The internal belt has snapped. Anyone know how much it costs to get repaired?

Mine seem to get clogged up with hairs and fluff (both my daughters have hair down to their bums) all the time and stop picking up. Then I have to spend ages pulling it all out.

You can probably buy spares at a local hardware store, or possibly even at comet or B&Q...

..otherwise there are plenty of on line suppliers - pick one... :)
