Is this Monarch charter or Monarch scheduled? Monarch ski/snowboard bag charge is £22.50 per leg max weight 13KG. Prebook(web or phone) and there is a £5 per leg discount. I can't find their maximum hold baggage size.

I don't know - it's through Ski France i believe (via another operator)...
If that's the cost, then £30 is cheaper isn't it :)
  • Just a quick update on Air Canada, just as well I looked at the web site as they have introduced new regulations on carriage of sports equipment.

You must pre-register that you want to transport skis and boots at least 24hrs prior to the flight. If you arrive at the airport check-in without doing this you will be liable for a charge C$75 (£43) per set. You cannot put 2 sets in one bag or you will be charged the excess even if you have pre-registered, the bag cannot be longer than 203cm and you cannot put any thing but skis and poles in the bag. There is also a disclaimer re damage if your bag is not hard shell (I think I have only ever seen one hard shell bag being used!)

For info. Just back from Norway, flying with SAS. We weren't able to book ski carriage at time of booking as flying economy. We were not charged at Heathrow on way out but someone having a bad day at Oslo on the way home, charged us 160NOK (approx 17 quid) on the way back.
  • I have found a site called double you etc skicarriage dot co dot uk that will store, service and transport your skis and boards for you to wherever you are going! I am done paying the airport and getting my skis damaged, good news all round!:j

Thanks, this is interesting - but the cost for 1 pair of skis or 1 snowboard for France, seem to be £90. I'm only in need of basic return carriage on the flights themselves, so the £30 charge to the Tour Operator seem to be cheaper for me.

I'm interested in the question of how much would it be at the airport?
    Thanks.
  • Wish flybe were that cheap they charge £28 each way with a max length of 66 inches and thats on a short flight southampton to Chambery. Ever since I brought my own ski's in Canada and brought them home on Canadian affairs for free, the prices have been going up and up. This is on top of the baggage charges and taxes that puts a cheap flight up from £22 return to £187, shold be renamed !!!!!! Turpin Airlines.
