Please can anyone tell me if the VAT on energy prices (ie heating oil) has come down from 5% with the new VAT changes, or is it only the higher rate that's altered? Thanks.

Only the 17.5% rate is affected. The 5% rate on domestic fuel stays as it is.

Nope, thanks to the Conservative government putting VAT on domestic fuel in 1994 (it was zero rated before), firstly at 8% and then 17.5%, it can now never go lower than 5% unless we leave the EU.0
