OS Daily Thread - Sunday 30th November

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 30th November. It is is an ‘over the garden fence’ type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone is welcome; please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start does just as well.

Morning all!

Cold morning here again, am wrapped in my duvet til the little heater takes the edge off the room.

hapbirth.gifSquiggly you darling woman!!! Nice to meet a fellow saggy-tarian!
Nice to see you again VickyA and mags50!
turfy6 - congrats on your first star!
Ok mustangsal now I am even more confused - pickled bums aren't working out right. so you have 400 cotton wool balls?? You really need to explain what a pickled bum is I think *chuckles*

Really sad that Ruth left the X factor. She is my kind of singer - passionate, emotional and with a rock edge. What I don't understand is why the little hobbit is still in there.

Well, I did manage to get out of the house yesterday, it was damned freezing, but the car has fabulous heated seats so I sat and warmed up that way. We went out along the ring road and then drove to the moors which was lovely. My legs began to hurt so we came home, but stopped for a drink and a hot festive pie from McDonalds on the way home - not very OS, but mmmmmmm I love the thick shakes.

Sat and wrote my list of things to do between now and Christmas, oddly enough there is a lot to do or have done in the garden now the huge tree stump has gone. We need all the conifers lopped and some burberis planted now the wall has been rebuilt. (Yes, the council finally turned up and did it this week)

Ok, am worrying that I am not being OS enough in this post.. let me think.. I made some Christmas cards last night and today we are having the H.M.fish pie we should have had yesterday plus roast potatoes and broccolli. Am also hoping to do some baking - cheese straws, rock buns and hobnobs are on the list.

I hope everyone has a relaxing and fun Sunday.
smileyhug.gifto all who want one and congrats to anyone celebrating today.

  • Morning MSD & all who follow.
I'm going out for the day with DD & DS today & I'm really looking forward to it, a good natter while we put the world to rights. My oldest DD is the one everybody turns to with problems, she's as bad as me in that respect, so I need to check she's not under too much pressure at the moment.
I've been awake since 5, so I hope I can last the day out. I've finished DD's sewing & just hope she remembers to bring the next lot with her.
I need to make a meal up for hubby for later, he's perfectly capable of doing it himself, but it's a treat for him if I've already done it & I need to make a sticky lemon cake when I get back, I promised one for someone at work as it is her birthday on Wednesday.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning.

Another cold day down here in Cornwall. Yesterday we enjoyed good American food after celebrating late Thanksgiving with a family we know. Got so full that could hjardly move afterwards.

Got my Amex cash back yesterday. A whopping £250 just for spending on the card last year. Now what to spend it on?

Church this morning and then put up all the Christmas decs this afternoon. It should be fun, but ends up quite stressfull.

    Well cheers folks

    Morning all,

Its still cold out side but not as cold as it was yesrterday.
Well im up the twins are fed and the cats are fed and now out side playing I going to have a good rest this after noon the twins are off to my wifes mom and dad for the afternoon. So i shallread some of my book and have a sleep after dinner.

For dinner today im cookning chicken with tarrgon. very easy to do

All you need is a nob of butter add one tea spoon of tarrgon. some salt and pepper and 2 crushed garlic cloves. Cruch and mix it all in together. then pull the skin on the chicken back a bit and stuff the mix under the skin. Any that you can not get under the skin just put this unside the chicken.

If you like when the chicken is done you can use the jucie thats left in the tin to make a sause or add it to your gravey.

very nice and easy to do:j

My wife made homemade pizza for dinner last night. its been about 12 months since she has done one so we both really enjoyed it, it was a good change from what we normaly have for dinner.

    Good morning everyone,

    Happy Birthday Squiggly bdayparty.gif

It was foggy here all day yesterday, but it's gone now thank goodness.

I'm going to have a rummage through some recipe books today and see if I can transform some more of the ingredients in my freezer into meals that can be refrozen until I need them.

My washing is up to date, so just ironing to do today. I cleaned the top and middle of the house yesterday, so not much in the way of housework to be done today, yay!

I was toying with the idea of making some mince pies, but if I do that I'll just eat them, so I think I'll leave it until a bit nearer to Christmas, or there won't be one left for Father Christmas.

I've made Twink's hobnobs the last two weekends and taken them into work, but I'm giving them a week off this week. They do go down very well though!

    Take care all of you.
  • Good Morning All

 Happy Birthday Squiggly:beer: Have a great day.

Woke up this morning (after a little lie in) to find OH hoovering and dusting everywhere so that is a good start.

We are at a funeral all day tomorow so need to do some essential paperwork today. Also need to do some uniform ironing.

Have a friend we havnt seen for a while coming at 11am so will be having dinner this evening (Roast Pork) would invite our friend but he always says no!.

Still havnt photographed or listed anything for ebay for which I am very annoyed with myself so need to get a move on with that.

    Have a lovely Sunday.

Happy Birthday Squiggly:beer: Hope you have a lovely day.

It's a cold damp morning here. Just had my shower, but the water was non too hot, so thought I'd have a quick warm up with the computer:D No not going mad, my lappy gives off a fair bit of heat, well one corner does anyway:rotfl:

I made a lovely batch of Aussie's easy biscuits yesterday, she really is a mine of good recipes;)

Dinner today will be chicken breasts topped with a cheesy crumb mix, roasties and as many veggies as I can cram in the steamer. I bought a new tub of goosefat intended for the Christmas roasties, but I'm halfway through it already:o Think I shall have to pick up another one. I do so love proper goosefat roasties:D

Got Church in an hour, suppose I'd best go and dry my drippy hair.

    Hope you have good days.

Happy Birthday Squiggly - lovely big cake for you......... :bdaycake: mmmmm I could do with a slice for that for breakfast!
However, since it's a virtual cake, i'm having sausage and egg instead. We don't often have a cooked brekkie but DSS is going back to his mum's earlier today so I will make sure is fed first.

We had a real blitz on the livingroom yesterday. DH even moved the furniture and hoovered behind it all, then moved the settees so that more heat can move around the room from the radiator.

Having roast beef tonight - defrosted it yesterday. I bought 3 joints when MrM was doing them half price earlier in the month. This will give us enough for a couple of extra meals so no need to think too much when i come in from work on Mon and Tues :D

Not much else happening here at the mo. Both dogs all snuggled up and back to sleep. They are always happy to see us in the morning but quickly go back to sleep again after their biscuits

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend

    Morning everyone,

Thank you for the lovely compliments CM. I'll remember you in my will. :D
We went over to the nearby island today for lunch. It was a get together  with DH's work not mistaken with a Christmas party. DD tagged along. I'm so glad she did as we nearly wet ourselves with laughter. They had the band from hell playing and a tattoo judging competition. :rotfl:

The contestants had to parade their tattoo's for all to see. Their was 3 different sections. I'm afraid we got the giggles and it just got worse. :o Our sides were aching so much from laughing we were in agony. :D

Off to visit DSis tomorrow. Be lovely to catch up and gossip.

Squiggly Happy Birthday  Hope you gets lots of nice pressies.
 To those MIA Mrs Mix, Shez, Anniebooklover, Haribo :p to name a few.
CM Would goosefat roasties be fattening by any chance? :D

Have a lovely Sunday & <hugs> to those not well or down. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Morning all,

just a flying visit for now to say thank you for the birthday wishes :) I have got (among other bits) a "Christmas Eve" yankee candle from my DD's which I wanted, so will get that going later!

Just dashing off to my aunt's for a cuppa shortly, then back later. Diva, glad you enjoyed your trip out.

    Will be back later.
    xx
