Never had anyone tell me that...

What I think you meant to say was....

I saw baby peas in Tesco today. They call them Petit Pois but everyone knows what they are. I was with my kids so I bought the ordinary peas but it was upsetting and they really shouldn't be selling them at this time.

Text talk in emails and forums as well as bad spelling annoys me more than charities asking for more money...:rotfl:

I may be wrong, but I think you may have been the victim of a hoax posting. Not a very good one unless I'm missing something, as 'petit' means 'little' not 'baby' but you can see what he's trying to get at.

Yes, phoodless had worked it out in the end! I have encountered that poster before and he doesn't talk in text-speak or spell badly on his other posts so the alarm bells rang instantly.

Still a terrible joke though, not because it was in poor taste, but just because it was terrible (for the reason I gave above).
  • Once went to a friend who raised monies for charity, to find his shop no longer had the collection tin. I enquired as to why, when for years they had diliggently raised money for the charity, he had suddenly stopped. He explained that he was given a place on the local board and attended a national meeting, where instead of discussing where the funds would be directed, they were more interested in the property portfolio and share short term investments.

He found some of the national members were paid a salary to attend. Needless to say, he was not impressed.

I personally think it’s rather disgusting that we have to rely on charities to protect children in this country, maybe if the government spent less money furnishing second homes they could afford to help abused children themselves?
  • NSPCC, what were they doing while Baby P(eter) was being abused. we had to contact them once over a child being abused (kid was 5 the dad punched him in the face in a rage) they didn`t want to know, they gave us the number for local social service and asked what our ethnic background was??? the thing was that was on a saturday so couldn`t call till monday, so in the end we dialed 999 and let them deal with it. reason we called them first as the family is know to the Social Service and NSPCC WOULD have had the out our hours contact number to get it dealt with there and then. (don`t know if the child is called Peter, just it`s better then "P")

I would not class this as a joke by any means but total ingorance (sorry not read the rest of the posts on this thread got to # 14). If this poster gets some sort of kick out of this tradegy I should think he needs medical help and maybe he/she should be monitored by the authories to prevent the same happenin again IMHO.
