Hiya, you can try TAMBA http://www.tamba.org.uk/
Huge congrats! Whens the happy day? (In theory anyway lol might be a bit early )
  • Hope your wife is doing ok and getting as much rest as she. I have three year old twin boys and a seven year old. Yes they are lots of hard work but its all worth it. :rotfl:

When it comes to buying a pram think about when you going shopping can you get it thur the doors and most important your front door some you cant. go around the shops choose the brand and type and then hit the website.

Talk to your friends see if anyone has a cot they dont need any more.

Buy the basics do not go over board buy when you need something

Best thing i got where bottles from mothercare that could be sterlised in the microwave with a little water in each bottle they dont need a machine so great when at the grandparents home etc. (i did need 14 bottles at first)

Find your nearest twin group they are out there get your advice speak to other mums and dads and they will tell you where to shop.

Oh i had a costco card when they had offers on the Huggies nappies we would buy about 900/1000 nappies at a time (i know not good for the enivironment) saved adding to the weekly shopping bill every week and big savings

When people ask if you need anything say nappies/forumla etc think practical

If you can breast fed i do know mums in my twin who did but i couldn't

Take Care if you need to talk to someone at all for hints and tips just ask

  • Hello Alan and Louise!

My husband and I are expecting twins too! They are due 13th May and I am in my 16th week at mo. The pregnancy was planned but the twins part wasn't - bit of a shock! Looking forward to it now Not joined Tamba yet, not had chance. Been too busy trying to get freebies whereever possible - nappies for two will costa fortune!

Double the trouble and twice as much fun eh? !
Proud mother of twin boys - double the trouble and twice the pleasure! :T
  • Hi

Congratulations once the shock has settled in it will be great. My twins are now six and half and still havent stopped being expensive. I would definately join tamba, and also your local NCT group as they have sales which normally members get to go in earlier this can be a good way to get bargains.

I would definately recommend stocking up when things are on offer, lloys had half price newborn nappies when I was pregnant so I bought about 30 packets, this ment that I didnt have to go shopping for quite a while.

The other thing I would recommend is not to get a cheap double buggy as we did this and the buggy fell apart when they were 18 months, so I bought a double nipper which was fantastic and I wish that we had got this from the start.

Do keep an eye on your local freecycle as people are always getting rid of their baby things for free, and do accept any offers from people who offer to loan you baby equipment. We havent yet finished having children but I think our high chairs have done several other children in the mean time.

We bought a second hand baby swing which was ideal for keeping one of them occupied while you sort the other out. We also bought both of ours bath seats instead of a baby bath and we bathed them both at the same time.

I didnt but I wish I had returned unwanted gifts back to shops for gift vouchers for bits that you really will use, we got given tons of baby clothes in age 3-6 months but as they were only 4lb and 5lb 9oz they didnt fit for so long and when they did we had to many, I wish we had taken some back and changed them for a different size.

You will only need one cot to start with as they can share, you can get a cot divider for them to be feet to bar either side, or we had them sleep with feet to the ends one up each end untill they were about seven months and started moving.

You can make cheap cot sheets, moses basket sheets, burping clothes etc from buying king size sheets, cutting them and sewing the edges.

I will stop rambling on now but there are loads or other ways to save some money if you want me to carry on :rotfl: :rotfl:
If you want the rainbow you have to go through the rain.

Weight to loose 49lbs done of 91lbs finally sat in a pair of size 14 jeans and top for the first time in 14 years :j
  • Hey Good Luck"!!!!
I have twin boys now 15mths old..
We bought 2 baby bouncers.. which were great until they were about 7/8mths.. ... we bought the Rainforest ones which vibrated them off to sleep really well.... I have since realised that we went overboard on the clothes as i have since sold loads on Ebay still with tags on lol...
Just remember to give your Wife lots of help as she will be really tired as 2 babies are really demanding... and when they get bigger and the jealousy come... its worse lol
Exciting times are coming xxx good luck, xxx

  • Hi my non id boy twins are 8 days old :j

    DONT GO MAD BUYING!!!!

To be honest a few vests a couple of sleepsuits and a 'going out' outfit is fine.
As for sleeping you can co-sleep them (together) or 2 different cribs. Bouncy chairs are great as well :)

Look for NCT sales in you local area they are really good value for all sorts of baby things - be warned they can be a bit mental - think baby sale pregnant woman - my hubby was very shocked the first time i took him as there was a lot of argy bargy:eek:

Good luck to you - we survived the first week and wouldnt be without our boys now.
