Puppy yelping when left...

hi, I am looking for some help, I bought my pup home thursday and all is going well, apart from the night times and when I need to pop out, I put him in the kitchen, with his bed and water and close the door, he yelps non stop, I am worried the neighbours will complain, but mostly that he is in distress, I havent dealt with a pup for over 10 years , so any help would be great. in every other aspect all is perfect, he is toilet trained and such a lovely little man, I am just really worried about the non stop crying when I leave him .
My aim for 2009 is to SAVE not spend. my aim for jan is to have £400 by 30th jan...... here goes! total so far. £30;)

my gs pup was the same, my mothers room above room i had cage in, and so i ha to put her in my bedroom, still in cage, puppy was awful for crying when left alone, i left her for short burst and built it up, and was lucky that my mother was also able to keep eye on her during day,
i CANNOT advise as i ended up with puppy on bed at night, lol until it got to the point of my waking up and ending up with a huge paw in my face,
and thats 8 years ago that i bought gs.
im sure you will get some good advise on here, good luck,THANKS to everyone who posts competitions. you are all :A.0 -
Hiya, congrats on the puppy! I imagine he's maybe missing his Mum & siblings & with the change to a new home etc? Maybe a teddy or petsafe hot water thing would give him something to cuddle up to? Also, have you tried a Puppy Kong? That might keep him occupied for a while.
All I know is not to go back in to them until they're silent, never when they're noisy & also to not say anything when leaving the room, like no pats, fuss,. good boy etc. Just go!
I fear i'll be in the same situation as I adopt a dog on Friday! How old is the Pup, what breed & more importantly, where're the pics? Good luck x0 -

Awww congrats on the pup ... i totally agree with tigerlily! .. they are like kids if you go in when they cry they will expect it all the time so will cry
..
The other bit of fab advice i was given which is what i did with my lab pup is make a point of going out each day .. settle your pup with kong or toy etc .. then leave i always used to give a treat and say "back in a bit bosun" ...
go outside lock the door as normal ... stay out of site but just listen ..then when quiet go back in .. dont praise! .. just go in take coat off flick kettle on (or what your normal routine is when you get home) .. then after a few mins stroke and give a treat "goodboy" ..
then make each time longer ... this is what i did and it took about a week for him to settle and not yelp atall but start slow .. 2mins at a time and work up ...
but the most important thing is when returning only enter when pup is quiet
hope this helps xxHoping to be a thinner me in 2010!0 -

Awwwwwwwwwwwww! I hope you can I bet he's gorgeous! Has he had his vaccinations? (Just asking in case he hasn't, you probably know but he can't go out if not).
There's lots of people with good knowledge of dogs here that have tirelessly been advising me, I bet they'll be online soon to help!0 -
lol i'm dreading the first few nights with the dog i'm adopting, if it's barking or whining i'll be wanting to go in to shut it up cause of neighbours lmaoooo
I'll try to walk it tons to tire it out first though & leave it in the day, even on day 1, for short times. Just have to cross everything I guess lol0 -

Open an account with Photobucket http://photobucket.com/
Then you'll see an upload button, click that & it'll let you search for the photo you like & will upload it to the account you just opened (Pic has to be on your pc of course)
Then below the pic, it'll say img link, I think it's the very bottom, just click it & it'll say copied, then paste it into your reply & voila!
If not e-mail me it & i'll do it for yer!
Is he using those puppy pad thingys? I've seen them & didn't know whether to get my dog any lol0 -
give me ten minutes , and I should have photobucket done,
