you could also try doing an occasional wash with white vinegar in the drawer as fabric softener. I never buy FS but use white vinegar when washing towels etc - works a treat, lovely fluffy towels and a clean washing machine too!

Now I realise that most money savers would never do this, but if you do overfill the fabric softener compartment, and the siphon tubes are clear, there is every danger that the fabric softener will slowly siphon into the machine during the wash cycle.
    That is just a waste.

Wish I knew the answer because the very same thing is happening to my Mums washing machine. I'm going to clean the filter out for her to see if it makes any difference.

My fabric softener tray keeps filling up with water?

I have taken the tray out and cleaned it, and I have tried using white vinegar and running it through on the hottest cycle twice but it's still happening.

Any more suggestions before I call the warranty people out? I really can't afford to take a day off work to wait in for them all day!

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried reducing the pressure of the mains cold water feed?

I have no idea what this means? :o

    Thanks for replying though!

Not sure exactly what you mean.
Both powder/liquid and softener trays usually flood with water during the washing programme because that is how the powder/liquid and conditioner are moved into the drum and distributed around the wash.
Does it fill up with water when the machine is turned off? In which case have you checked the on off taps on the pipes connecting the machine to the water supply?

I had to clean the whole tray with a brush , then while the tray was out scrubbed out the inside of the area where the tray goes. I found there was a small water jet slot above the softener part of the tray that was almost blocked on mine , there was another one on the very top right as well that was also blocked. Once there were both clean my tray emptied properly again , the flow of water has to be strong enough and in the right directions to siphon all the water and softener out of the tray

Where the cold water pipe comes from the mains there is normally a tap (blue cold, red hot) which you can adjust the feed, and turn off for pipe/washing machine removal.

My only suggestion is to give it a good clean and using white vinegar instead of fabric conditioner for a few washes.

This is a very useful site on washing machines. I highly recommend it and it has most answers to most washing machine problems and many guidelines to sort the problems yourself.
