They're all basically the same thing, slightly different hard drive sizes, and the AW11 has a larger screen.
The FW11M is £200 cheaper than the FW11S - which kinda makes that option a no-brainer. Your main choice appears to be whether you want the bigger screen.0 -

Are you basically saying that you would be paying £200 more for a screen because they are all similar?0 -

Pretty much, yes. Apart from 70GB on the hard drive, but thats no big deal unless you download loads or do lots of video editing, etc. But they're all very expensive, I'm sure you could still knock another £100-200 off the £799 model and still retain most, if not all, of the specs. What exactly are you going to be using it for?0 -
Just incase your wondering - Sony really aren't any more reliable than any other brand and you do pay a BIG premium for the name and the looks over other laptops.Nothing I say represents any past, present or future employer.0

its worth it though. Nice screen, looks good, quality keyboard, software package included, brand name.........0

Sony used to be about innovative electronics, and you'd pay a premium for it.
Now they get a third party Chinese manufacturer to produce a very average performance laptop and charge £200+ more than any other mainstream manufacturer for the privilege of it having a Sony badge.Rubbish. This is a money saving site, not a poor persons' site.

I have just bought the FW11E
Which does not have the blue ray but is a similar machine.
I like it ..But only paid £450 so it seemed much more attractive.
I saw a machine in Tesco today that has a similar spec as the blue ray

It is theAcer Aspire 6530G
It has an AMD Chip so will wait for others to post about it's comparable speeds.
The Sony I have is nice. The main downer is that it is not XP downgradable .
Which is unfortunate as I really am not keen on Vista .
The speakers are a bit weak but the screen is very good.
Oh and the usb location is a bit naff .Because of the hinge set up there are no input points on the back .0
