PS3 connectivity help needed!

I have been running my PS3 through the HDTV downstairs, no problem.
Needed to move the PS3 upstairs onto non-HDTV.
Bought adapter leads(HDMI with 5 coloured jacks on the end, and a 3 female end/SCART adaptor).
Plugged all in, PS3 plays through the non-HDTV, good sound, but the picture is in black and white?
Tried switching a few of the plugs around, still no joy?
Whats happening? What can I do?
Help!!!

I think they're referring to the component Hi Def cables, rather than HDMI (red, green, blue for picture, red & white for audio) - I use these for my 360
ahhh
Good call
Thats probably why its in black and white then as the computers sending out the signals for component and theyre being forced into a single composite:idea:0 -

Doesn't the PS3 come with a standard scart to console connector or something?
Is there a PAL/NTSC switch on the console or in the system settings, or maybe it still set to receive HDMI input.
These are guesses as I don't have a PS3 myself0 -

It does actually, but again, its composite only, not RGB which would look far better (As per the amazon reviews):idea:0 -
Refresh my memory. Composite is the yellow, red & white connector?
If so, buy a scart adaptor - a few quid from Maplin.0 -
I think the PS3 remembers what type of Screen it's sending to. Think you have to reset it in the PS3 settings for it to see a new screen!
I'm sure i read something like that... (Check page 8 of the "Quick start Guide"! that came with the PS3)
Think you have to turn it off and hold the power button down for 5 seconds till it beeps twice! that resets the display settings.Laters
