PS3 connectivity help needed!

I think the PS3 remembers what type of Screen it's sending to. Think you have to reset it in the PS3 settings for it to see a new screen!
I'm sure i read something like that... (Check page 8 of the "Quick start Guide"! that came with the PS3)
Think you have to turn it off and hold the power button down for 5 seconds till it beeps twice! that resets the display settings.
We had to do this last Boxing Day after playing without a HDMI Cable and then buying one to play on the HD tv. It doesn't automatically adjust TV settings.0
