Really sorry to hear SugaJen that it's been such a difficult year - I think we're all rooting for it to go really well for you over Christmas.
Would love to know what's in your littlest one's baby stocking - sounds really sweet!? Hope it all goes really well (don't know how you have the energy to go shopping at all!). I think the nicest thing I read for me was just before doing a birthday party - that the idea is for them to get really excited & have loads of fun whether or not everything else goes to plan!!! :j:j :j :j I'm sure they really appreciate all the care & thought that goes into it, nothing to do with the monies really, & as everyone seems to be saying Christmas does make very precious memories!
Aww huge thanks GreenTed, will write a post on Monday re baby stocking, after shopping for itGood enough club member number 140 -

Have consulted me mum over this lol I was born 8 days before Xmas nearly 26 years ago and up til being born my parents had no idea what flavour I was but I have a older brother (4 years) who asked about 4 days before xmas while visiting in hospital should he write Santa a letter for me - My parents apparently paniced and had to sort out some sort of gifts for me.
My first christmas I got a lot a of Johnsons baby products - ie bath, talc, lotion, a rattle, one of those teething rings with the keys on, and a rabbit stuffed toy plus some bibs and an outfit.
My brother wasnt apparently interested in what I got but just didnt want me to be left out on Xmas morning 'cause Santa visits EVERY child apparently' lol
Id go for practical gifts or keepsake gifts - maybe one of those babys first xmas pooh bears from Disney store or a 1st christmas bauble 2008 kind of thing - im guessing your other kids will be too interested in their own stocking to pay much attention to what the baby getsLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?

I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
Phunkles, those are the kinds of things I was thinking of, along with wrist rattles. My other kids want to buy him a xmas pressie too so im getting a couple of toys that are 6months+ so he has something for later in the year.Good enough club member number 140

I've been reading this to get ideas for DS's stocking. I never had one as a child and did one for the first time last year for DS as I always loved the idea, DS thought it was fab!
I just put little cheap bits in, colouring book and crayons, a small hardback book, bag of chocolate coins, bubble bath, various bits of underwear with his favourite cartoon characters on, and of course the obligatory satsuma!
I wrapped them all up before putting them in (do people do this or not?) and he emptied it out and was completely amazed at all the prezzies to open, he sat and sorted them all out and arranged them and played with them, ate the choccy and it was almost a drag for him when he realised there were actually 'normal' size presents for him sat waiting under the tree!0 -
Something I always did with my children and also what my parents did with us, was to put a couple of puzzle type games in the stockings too, along with the usual chocolate coins, colouring books/pens, underwear etc. I guess these days with most kids having a tv/dvd in their rooms it would more likely be a dvd to keep them quiet though lol
Stockings were always opened on mum and dad's bed then they took them back to their bedrooms and the puzzle games kept them entertained for an hour or so whilst the adults have chance to wake up properly and have coffee etc before everyone comes down to open the big presents.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
Have just been discussing with DP about doing a stocking for DS this year. I am secretly planning on doing one for him as well as parents and grandma all of whom will be staying with us over Christmas.
We had stockings as children and I can still remember the excitment of waking up to find it waiting their on Christmas morning. Never realised the practical aspect of giving children stocking - to delay them getting up too early.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

Oh I really like the idea of the kids getting on my bed to open stockings....cant see it happening as baby will only be 5 weeks old on xmas day so will want feeding asap lol. Hes currently waking at 6.30am, if that carries on I might have a chance to do it as every xmas so far for aslong as ive had kids (10 years) ive had to wake them up in the morning  usually about 9ish too!!!Good enough club member number 140 -
