Best stuff to clean stainless steel sink & hob

I have a stainless steel sink and hob and can't seem to find anything to clean them up? Any suggestions?

Hi chickmug, the best imho is 'Barkeeper's Friend' not sure if supermarkets sell it but I know Lakeland do. HTH

  • Baby oil for that final polish, no really
  • We use stainless steel cleaner - perhaps that was too obvious but even that isnt perfect

You can usually find barkeepers friend in smaller hardware shops.

I do use the baby oil on my hob - you need a drop or two only. Use paper towel then use a clean one to buff it up.

As to the sink never tried it on that - I just use bog standard spray cleaner.
  • I use bleach on the sink - probably not ideal but it takes off all tea stains etc and buffs up a treat afterwards. Probably not so good on the hob though!
  • i use steam it brings it up a treat steam and a nice soft cloth
but just a note when my steamer broke and the cooker needed cleaning i tryed to use the iron and unfortunatly it doesn't work lol

Years ago we had a Franke sink that developed rust spots. Someone from Franke came out and told us the best stuff to use was Shiny Sinks. You can get it from some supermarkets and probably hardware shops.

For my sink I tend to use bicarbonate of soda. Sprinkle onto sink/drainer, bit of a rub with a damp cloth, rinse well and wipe dry with a microfibre cloth.

Another vote for "Barkeeper's Friend" for the sink- I usually buy it from Asda and it lasts for ages as you only need to use a small amount. I use stardrops on my brushed stainless steel hob.
  • Astonish do a great cleaner for stainless steel & chrome. I use it on my taps & the shine is excellent.

Lime lite makes it look good, get the bottled one not the spray (must be watered down or different in some way). Smells nice too, available any supermarket.
