I don't want to appear defeatist but I've almost given up caring. I was very very fortunate to put a large sum in the post office growth bond and another large sum in Kaupthing Edge, both on 7.05% fixed until next September, just before the crash. I've got quite a bit in Bradford and Bingley e saver but don't even know the rate now, it seems to change daily. The Icesave money I put into Anglo Irish but that seemed to be sinking fast, so I moved it into Nat West e saver account at 4.37% but I believe that has dropped now. As I've said before I must be one of the worse "tipsters" on this site. Just don't put your dosh where mine is seems to be the moral of the story.I've just been checking the tables on fsa.gov.uk/tables and the rates are beyond belief.
How reliable are :-
Yorkshire Building Society (internet saver 3.69%);
Stroud+Swindon B.S. (bonus guarantee account 3.69%);
Scarborough B.S. (balance builder 3.8%);
Market Harborough B.S. (onthedot easy access 3.95%);
and how do we currently feel about icici (HiSave 4.41%) and ING (savings account 4.89%) ??
Sorry, being serious again oops!

It's all so unmerciless (is that a real word?) and the profiteering nasties are out in force - just been ripped off by a local garage. Car went for a service, phone call 3 hours later, 'got to change your ball joints as car not road-worthy, that'll be £700 instead of £230' and of course they had to do it. Bla'guards. They also quoted for a new cambelt and stuff £660. Got the car back and tried another (family recommended but not make-specific) garage - £350. I hate them with a passion. :mad: :hello:0 -
Yes, one of our regulars st, picked up a car repair bill for £1300 plus VAT yesterday. His warranty had only expired a month ago! :mad::eek:
