  • I can see why you're peeved, but can't think of anything you can do except avoid her.

Some people just don't have a clue, and I've never figured out whether it's pure ignorance, the ostrich effect or just lack of consideration for anyone else. Maybe all or some for different people. I do think some people just don't realise what literally having no money actually means - the only money I ever got back from a former friend with a multi-millionaire husband was what I lent her when he was arrested for tax fraud and all their accounts were frozen, I think she got a rude awakening!

  • Some of my friends are like that and I just say "I'm just as skint, deal with it!"
I think I know why I don't have many friends.....

  • I think what is most frustrating with my mate is that he has spent years working his way out of a debt, and he knows exactly how hard things are in debt. I used to flash credit too, but I didn't borrow from people (except the Bank of Mum and Dad, which was always repaid with interest).

If he didn't owe me £450 and have so much to do on his business, maybe I'd feel different about the waste of time and money....... but I doubt it. :)

  • I've gotta "mate" like that-borrowed 6k about 4 years ago,now his wife is out buying herself a horse-still no sign of our money back though....
    Debt-free...and staying that way...
  • It would be really easy to say, "It's her problem, not yours" but it hacks me off too. I get it all the time at work from people telling me that the staff party is," Only £40 for the meal.............." and then calling me tight when I say that I'm still not going! £40 becomes £50 when you add in a taxi, or £80 if you include the fact that it's formal and I have nothing to wear, or £90 once you add in secreat Santa.

They can call me tight all they like, but I'm responsible for me and me alone and no amount of their nagging is going to make me want to become nearly £100 in debt for one night out.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
