Note the CCCS may not be able to "help" you becasue you are still legally contracted to another comapny but they may be able to give you general advice on the legal situation.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • I have found that who ever you speak to, as soon as you mention that you are in an IVA the whole tone of the conversation changes. No one wants to give advice as you have your own IP who they all tell you to speak to.
I have decided that I am going to go for bankruptcy but, I have read that even though you have failed the IVA you also have to prove that you did your utmost to be in contact with your IP prior to the failure which, is what I am in the middle of now. Biding my time and waiting for them to fail me while also still in contact over payments. Stupid really, but gives more time to get the fees together, I suppose.

  • ok thanks for your help, can you tell us some of the charities to go to please
  • If you want to go through your options talk to the guys on the bankruptcy board. They will give you advice and numbers of people to talk to who will advise best options. Good Luck

  • We went with Debt Free Direct and they are the same. I don't think any one of them is out to actually help you. The only reason we entered the IVA was because we were scared for the kids and what would be said. We learnt a very valuable lesson and a year on are now waiting for DFD to fail the IVA. I hope they do pay for the fees it will put £1000 back in our pockets but, they will prob just sign us off.

We went with DFD too and they are terrible. The government in response to the recession should put pressure on IVA firms to reduce peoples IVAs to enable us to survive throughout. We pay £737 per month and things are very tight indeed, so if cost of living goes uo further we will be in a poor position. Government should step in here i think as IVA companies are not interested in helping, which was how it was sold to me they are only interested in getting the money in. We are just going through our first review and i suspect they wont be concerned about our IVA being successful as there fees are now paid. These huge companies are shocking and i wish i had done my homework before deciding to go with them. A very negative experience of IVA and DFD here!!!!
  • Hi, new to the site so hello to all.
Just wanted to ask if anyone knew whether the government was planning to help people currently in IVAs living on a tight budget to cope with recession. I have observed my IVA become tighter over the last year as living costs have increased. I suspect my current IVA practitioner will not be sympathetic to this as there fees will have been paid in the first years payment, i am currently undergoing my annual review now with DFD, who are shocking! The government are bailing banks out, helping businesses as a priority but what about the consumer? I presently cant contribute much to the economy as my IVA is so tight as im sure a number of people in IVAs are. I am currently existing through life, no social life, holidays, clothes shopping on a budget, cant borrow and yes sub inflation payrises year on year! so things are just going to get worse!. When is the government going to acknowledge this for the IVA companies arent going to do it???? Anyone with any news??
