Your best bet is to apply for the esaver 2 now (as an existing account holder you should get accepted without needing ID). As soon as you get confirmation the account is opened, phone A&L and ask them to close your issue 1 account. They will hopefully allow you to transfer the closing balance to the esaver2 (tends to depend on the adviser whether they allow this).
It's not true all the time. I am an existing current account customer since 2003 and holds an e-saver issue 1 already. I applied for their issue 2 last October but they still ask me some ID which eventually lead too many delays in opening my issue 2. I have currently both of them running together and both been paid interests today. I have withdrawn my issue saver 1 leaving just a (£1) and moved it issue 2.0 -

If I don't want to lose interest I need to move the money tomorrow. Is it possible to switch directly into an eSaver 2 - which I have not opened yet ?
I don't have any other accounts with A&L and when I opened this one I had to go through a time consuming process including ID which took almost a month.
I believe you could do it all on phone today. They were going to do it for me last month but I decided to wait till today as it was part way through month.0 -
better than natwests 4.47% e savings rate!!!0

just phoned and did the transfer from esaver to esaver2 leaving £1 in esaver.
First person to answer phone sounded really fed up. Bet they hate 1st of month. They had to put me through to large transfer team.
They questioned why I wanted to keep Esaver1 open. Said it was a quick place to put rest of funds to earn interest if I had to withdraw from Esaver2.
He tried to tell me you can't have both open . Told him I had checked T&Cs (thanks to someone on here) and you could have one of each issue and that I knew people who had both. He still nearly mucked up the transfer - almost transferring whole amount and then almost closing esaver.0 -

Have eSaver, just opened issue 2 today. Have a confirmation email.
1) Will the account be added sooner than 3 days?
2) Can I speed things up by using the phone before the account appears online? Is that what you guys did?
edit: that went well. The CS guy found the account (it was then showing if I went to the add accounts page but not under the account summary) and the transfer girl moved the money. The account then appeared online in my summary.0 -

I did this through quidco too, (main reason for applying!), but not been paid yet. I had to submit a claim to quidco as it didn't appear on my account after 14 days. Currently pending.:hello: Trying my best to money save! :j:grinheart Sealed Pot Challenge 6 #2100 :grinheart0 -
Did this myself via quidco, also there is a £10k competition on!0

Really? Wow! How did you get around that? The t&c's say :

Applied again for Issue 1 (different cashback site), and repeated the above.
When Issue 2 was launched, I went for that as well.
As soon as Issue 2 has paid out I'll be closing it and going for another one.
Issue 3 must be due soon!
If there are 2 of you, there's a VERY easy £160 per year available here.0
