Friday 28/11/08 What small dfw things have you done today???

:D When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free.

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.:D

Today I will:
  • check online banking
  • move some spare cash to savings
  • make a loaf in breadmaker
  • storecupboard lunch
  • carry on cleaning and decluttering house
  • cooking tea for oldies at work so will be eating for free:D
  • try and get to gym for swim and jacuzzi
Good morning guys, woo Hoo it's Friday again:j :j , cold and frosty here this morning, will have to de ice car before I go to post office this morning for work. Might make OH a bacon butty then he will feel like de icing it for me;) .
Hope you all have a good day, hugs to all those feeling poorly today, and welcome to any new posters.

See you later:D

    Oi... they're breadcakes ;)

Morning all. I'm really really glad it's Friday. Relented last night as I felt bobbins and really couldn't be bothered to cook... so we ordered Chinese. Oh well :)

    My list for today/weekend:
    • Storecupboard breakfast and lunch and whatever tea I can find.
    • Checked banking... everything is normal.
    • Surveys... already done one today. I'll do them as they come in.
    • Mum's lovely pink nano has turned up (worked out at £77.30 with Quidco) so I'll fill that with tunes tonight. Might make a video to hide on it too... she'll have probably worked out how to use it and found the video by the time she goes to India :rotfl:
    • Try to have a NSD today... shouldn't be going out later and it should be an early night seeing as we're off to Ipswich tomorrow. Try not to spend too much on beer and burgers tomorrow!
    • Gather up all my OH's change, cheques, scratchcards and my vouchers and go on a shopping/banking run on Sunday. Only got a few more things to get and then Crimble is sorted for me. Possibly print out Pigsback's 30% off Gap voucher and have a look at the nice stripey Christmas jumpers :D
    • Carry on looking through books to sell... I can probably clear one of my shelves. Sell anything else I don't use too in an attempt to free up some space and decorate my room.
    • Chill out.
Hope everyone has a nice day.

I think I'm early today and I'm 7th  you are all such early birds, I've been up since 6.30 too but just didn't come in here :o
Thanks Sophiesmum for being so reliable :A

Glad it's Friday. And because of my commitments I pulled out of going to the Food Show on Sunday :( but my knee just couldn't cope with a whole day of walking, and I still have to leap around the stage with vigour next week so I need to look after it now. I suppose it'll save me money, and my Sis can take her whole family instead, but I know where I'd rather be :p

    So today I have/will
    • cleaned my kitchen (before work  ) using OS remedies
    • cancelled a trip out for me on Sunday
    • checked on-line banking and breathed a sigh of relief that despite OH's late money this month (due today, will arrive Tuesday) I will just about scrape through within my overdraft.
    • no packed lunch today as "nibbles" available at a lunchtime do (I'm an efficient nibbler, I can put it away :o )
    • arranged a mystery shop for tomorrow
    • rehearsal tonight 20p (and budgeted :D )
A bit of a mixed bag, but I am surprisingly relieved that something I had been looking forward to has had to be cancelled

    Just checked Quidco, I'm due £50 :D:D:D
  • I checked my credit score last night and I'm up into the 'fair' category and the report reads unlike anything on my record in some time, "No missed payments in 12 months......................etc, etc" (I was 'very poor' 3 years ago in the lowest 10% of the population and now I'm average! Woo hoo! Being average in mney terms sounds just fine!
    Today is the deadline I've given Egg for refunding my credit card charges;
    I've also amended my direct debit to Egg from £110 to minimum payment for 2 months in order to give me some extra cash for the road tax in January and the MOT in February;
Chased up an Ebay parcel that I paid for on 12th Nov which I still haven't received (which was a pressie for someone's birthday at the weekend) - guess it's now a Xmas present.

(And yes, someone will come on and talk about credit scores being irrelevent, lender's own criteria...........I KNOW..............but I'm celebrating a minor victory in egtting back on the straight and narrow)
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!
  • Hello everyone...and happ Friday! This week has been a killer, always is after a week off! Anyway, feeling bright and sparkly despite the miserable weather!

    Today I have/will:
    • Done the grocery shop and stuck to budget
    • Received 5p off petrol voucher
    • Check online banking
    • Will go to work in a moment
    • Take packed lunch
    • Housework when get home...boo!
    • Night in tonight with cheap bottle of plonk
    • Write list of stuff to get for xmas eve party tea (always good to plan ahead!)
    • Do some puzzles in trashy magazine
    Lots of love
    xxxx
Joint debt with OH at LBM Sept 08 (excluding mortgage & student loan) - £34,069

    Getting married 05/09/09

To lose for the big day (lb) 2/51
  • Today I am:

    1. Checking online banking
    2. Spending some vouchers my OH got through work on xmas presents, so technically free!
    3. Meeting mum for dinner-saving me a couple of pounds!
    4. Making tea with whatever we have in cupboard. Forgot to get chicken out the freezer last night so will probably be something boring!
    5. Doing lots of cleaning and tidying instead of going round town and probably spending money!
    6. Sending a stern letter to Barclaycard with a stamp borrowed from Mum
  • Working from home which means saving transit costs and have chicken in the slow cooker which will become chicken stock and chicken enchiladas (meals for at least 5 days!). Yay me!
