problems with sim card in a new phone

Hi

Got a 3 pay monthly contract, now bought new phone (ebay), locked to 3. Everytime I put simcard into new phone message comes up "please insert sim card" or "simcard invalid".

When I try simcard in both old phones (one contract one paygo) simcard works fine.

Is that a fault with new phone or is it possible my network wont allow me to use new phone? Any thoughts please.

Thanks

Some of the most modern phones require the latest type of sim card but if yours is new I wouldn't have thought that would be the issue.
Have you tried the phone with someone elses 3 sim?
Might sound dumb but you have put the sim in the correct way round in the new phone?

I had this with my SIM, it wasn't 3G compatible so I had to get a new sim and transfer the number.

To answer my own question  lol:

I had one of the first issued 3 sim card (starting with AX + numbers)which is not compatable with N95 handset. With a new sim card the phone should work.

Hope this is some help for others too.

    Thanks
