MFI Kitchen by TWO CARDS

Hi All,
Paid just under £4K for my yet to be delivered / may never be delivered kitchen from MFI.
I paid £500 on my SKYCARD (mastercard) and the rest on my HALIFAX ONE CARD (mastercard).
Am i right in thinking that I claim the amounts off each card?
Still waiting to hear if I will or will not get my kitchen but not holding my breath!
The protection on the CC may not help me unless a 'kitchen' is classed as one purchase!
Poo!

I have no doubt that you would be covered.
If you buy a jigsaw puzzle its one purchase even if there's hundreds of pieces.0 -

Have you checked the MFI website for an announcement regarding existing orders? I've seen both online news & press reports which state that MFI are hoping to fulfill customers orders but if they can't, they will give a full refund.
The latest BBC online news is reporting that the administators are stating that customers who paid by cash, cheque or debit card will be refunded but customers who paid by credit card should contact their card issuer.0 -
I think the OP meant he would claim the amount paid on each card back from those cards rather than the whole lot from one?0
-
I think the OP should reclaim under Section 75 from ONE of the the Card Providers for the entire transaction, it will keep things easier.
Just need to decide which of the Card Providers is going to be easier to negotiate with

I think the OP means that he would claim back from each card the amount spent on that card. Surely you can't claim more than you paid?! Why should the Halifax card reimburse £500 more than was spent using that card?DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Well under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, the Card Provider is liable for the entire transaction even if only a proportion (as little as £1 actually) was paid on the card, so they are obliged to reimburse the entire amount.
However, if the OP attempts the same claim with 2 separate Card providers to effectively "double up" the reimbursement then I think this would be fraudulent and could get them into trouble.0 -
Thanks for the help!
I spoke to MFI today and was told that each order is being individually looked at to see if they can provide the stock or not! Either way I should expect a refund or claim back off the card company of the install charge because MFI are not paying the fitters anymore!
So technically these may happen:
- No Delivery or Install (Claim off CC company)
- Delivery no Install (MFI Refund Install Charge)
- Delivery no Install (Claim Install Charge off CC Company)
I have contacted SKY and HALIFAX and they have both stated that it is too early to start the process however I didn't mention section 75.
Sky - Told me they were ONLY responsible for the £500 transaction and would send out forms so I could 'dispute' the transaction.
Halifax - Required the 'dispute' to be registered by sending a letter, I didn't ask about the other £500 however.
Sky seemed more willing to help than Halifax however surely Sky would resist if i tried to claim back the full lot?!
I don't really know what to do -
Should I just sit and wait to see what MFI are doing or claim under section 75 now? Either way I get no install! so technically not getting what I bought - Fully fitted kitchen?!
What worries me is: (from MoneySavingExpert.com)
"This is where it gets quite tricky. The law is plain; the £100 is for the cash value of a ‘single item’ (so excluding any fees, and charges such as delivery). Yet, single items aren’t always that straightforward."
My bill is itemised and some 'items' are less than £100!

Ok, I understand. I didn't imply that the OP should claim the entire amount from BOTH cards!!!! I think it was quite clear I meant that I presumed £500 would be claimed from the Sky card and the rest from the Halifax card.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

this has shades of the air line company that went broke. Credit card claims for seats paid for via credit card tried claiming under section 75 and were told to make their claims to the administrators !! I didnt see anyone who managed to get a refund from the card companies under section 75. But i'm ready to be corrected.
