Your best hope is to explain to their customer service department that you did send a cheque that must have went missing; to avoid any future issues you would like to set up a minimum payment direct debit and hope that they can help by reinstating your 0% terms.....
It may work and is probably your best course of action0 -
But the OP will either have got a paper statement, or an online one depending on the kind if card they opted for..
If you dont read the T&Cs AND then dont read the statement (which will have been clear that a payment was required) then all you can do is appeal to their compasionate side. (dont fancy your chances)0 -

this is definitely the best course of action0 -
Would agree with the above, you might get lucky. Unfortunately the 0% intros cost a lot of money and you have just identified yourself as high risk by missing a payment they are going to take measures to protect themselves and their capital. Its the way it works and was certainly common in a lot of banks.
Good luck but I would be surprised if you get anywhere, unfortunately in the climate we are in a brand new customer who does a BT and misses their first payment is not a customer you would want to keep its risk reward, sorry. The truth behind the PPI numbers...(Post 3712 on the PPI Reclaim thread 3)

So, you two are saying, a barefaced lie is the ‘best course of action'?

I am sure that the OP has learned a valuable lesson about T&C's; there is no need to penalize them financially, due to their initial mis-interpretation.0 -
If they don't restore the 0%, which is obviously well within their rights to do, then you may want to apply for another 0% card, pay the transfer fee and put it down to experience. Be aware though, as GIOL_Elmo says, this late payment will now show up on your credit report so potential lenders will see that and could be put off.
I'm sure you're not the first and won't be the last to make this kind of mistake. An uneffected guitar sounds like a little girl crying. An uneffected bass sounds like an angry Rhino!0 -
I sympathise with the OP.
Sometime back I took out a BoS card with 0% for 15 months and happily bought a couple of computers and other things - had a plan in place to save into savings account and pay it all off at the end.
I've always set up Direct Debits for CCs and all my other bills and had around 20 on my bank account. Well, I should have had 21... I quite simply forgot to set it up and when I looked at the BoS account online my heart sank when I saw a late payment charge and a % rate of 15 or 16 (can't remember)!!!
I made an immediate payment through my bank account and then phoned up to explain. The rep was very good and cancelled the late payment fee immediately. He listened to my story about usually being so careful about setting up DDs, and said he'd make a note and pass it to the relevant department, but warned me I had probably lost the deal.
A couple of days later I logged in to find the 0% was reinstated
My recommendation is not to lie, but to explain exactly what you told us here and that you simply got mixed up between 0% interest and not having to make a payment at all.
Best wishes.0 -
What I was saying was that you are now a higher risk in their eyes, i.e. since you missed a payment you are more of a risk than they initially thought therefore removing your 0% offer. The percentage of accounts which will not repay after missing a payment is much much higher than the average of the entire book. On the plus side if you are thinking about moving to another company do it quickly as the missed payment will not be on your credit file as yet. There is a reasonable delay between missing the payment and it going on your credit file with the CRA's.The truth behind the PPI numbers...(Post 3712 on the PPI Reclaim thread 3)
