Tesco Home Phone Sending Bailiffs

Tesco Home Phone has just sent me a letter with a request for 15.63 dated frm January 2007 and a diffferent address. This is the first time they have contacted me about this outstanding amount and provided no extra detail. I have requested a call back from the Compliants department and put the account into dispute. However the tone of the letter was threatening and noted that a collection agency would be sent within four weeks, if the account was not paid. I have always paid all bills in full and had the postal forwarding service to my new address for 12 months. Any advice about this? Can they do this? What are my legal rights? Anyone else been contacted?

Where do the 'bailiffs' come in? Since you haven't been taken to court, employing bailiffs would be a pointless exercise.0

Have to agree if you havent been taken to court Baliffs will not be a problem.
Its such a small amount anyway doubt it wil go to court. But I do know how upsetting this can be. Maybe if you take time to re-read the letter and can phone someone you will get this sorted out, Best of luck.Sealed pot challenge 5430 -
I had tesco home insurance ,which I didnt renew .
They passed my debt (which I didnt have ) onto a debt collection agency .
I told tesco I didnt owe them anything and I told the debt collection to get stuffed .
seems tesco like to use bully tactics"Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -
I think you will find that Tesco Home Isurance have automatic renewal of home insurance polices (especially if you pay by direct debit). But they do have to send you a renewal notice.
Tesco will claim that the renewal notice was sent out (and no doubt it was). Royal Mail do make mistakes in redirecting mail but you cannot blame that on Tesco. Seems to me that it wasd probably your fault for not giving Tesco your new address?0 -
Hi to all complaining regards THP letters. The letter you are all receiving are for failed direct debit whilst you used this service or you cancelled you direct debit before the final bill was paid. Obviously you dont check your bank statements to check if you have made the payments. If someone owed you money, would you chase them for it.
Best thing to do is contact customer services on the free phone number 0800 068 0818.0
