The drivers do not have access to customer's contact details and so will not be able to call you to inform of any delay. As you are aware any number of situations can cause an unforseen delay in the delivery of your order. We always do our best to find a way around this and get your order to you as quickly as is possible.</quote>
Finally received a reply to my complaint mostly 'sorry... blah blah. and the interesting quote above.
Was also speaking to my niece and it came up in conversation that she had also had awful problems with Tescodirect.com. which resulted in non delivery of promised items.
Would also state as Gregg1 has that they did take money out of my account before they shipped the item.0 -
Just a quick update received my credit card invoice today (smart move to send on Christmas Eve but didn't fall for it paid in full straight away) and can confirm that Tesco did indeed take the money from my account on the 25th November which was two days prior to the delivery date they had promised (but then cancelled)

 Never again will I order from Tesco Direct. Failed to deliver 7am - 7 pm despite e-mails indicating that they will. Their web pages were showing a delivery of 11.10 - 11.10pm. They answer no e-mails of mine asking for assistance. Many telephone calls to Tesco, item forgotten to be loaded, van breakdown, paperwork not on van, computer breakdown. I have no true idea what actually happened. On day two, no time given for delivery except I am now told it was on the lorry - definite, but no time for actual delivery. I contact Tesco who now tell me it will be delivered between 4 - 4.30pm. It arrived at a few minutes to 7 pm. It arrived damaged. Please draw your own conclusion I know I certainly have0

I ordered a 32" TV friday afternoon. Told it would arrive on Monday between 7am-7pm. Turned up 8am the next morning (Saturday).
The only time I have had problems with Tesco Direct is when I used their 2 hour slot thing. The item was sent to the store who promptly lost it and then delivered it broken a competely different day at a different time and it was only by luck anyone was in. Then they said they would deliver a new one but would have to charge me for the new one and only will refund the broken one when its returned. Two weeks later it hadn't been picked up or a new one delivered and they refunded the money for the broken one and the new one that never turned up and told me to keep the broken one. As it was a lamp with a broken glass shade I brought a new shade for £5 and kept the lamp!0
