Awaiting Decision on AMEX Cashback Card

Applied online yesterday for above card said they'll let me know by post within the next 10 days, does anyone know whether this is god or bad news?

Cheers

I got the same but received a call a few days later just to let me know my application had been accepted. Stuff came through a few days after that.

I wasn't on the electoral register at our new address which is what I think might have caused the delay in gettting a decision.

Well, I've had my Amex Platinum for 5 years and when I applied online it was an instant decision that told me - yes!

But, that was before the credit crunch. Often the response you got means no, as they write to tell you no, but as there is a credit crunch they may be doing more applications manually, to double check you have the correct criteria. Amex is a little stricter than most.

  • Ah ok, well will await the response then see what it says, credit rating is 927, but don't have any other cards or loans etc.. just bank account with overdraft, salary is over 20k, who knows, see what happens. Thanks for your responses though guys.

Is it cashback card you are applying for as I think it had a minimum salary of £25k...
  • It definitely said minimum 20k, if not would I not have just got an immediate rejection?

  • I also got the same response. I waited about 15 days with nothing, so I phoned them to ask what was happening. They said they were swamped with applications so it took a while to sort through, but they dug mine out and all I needed to do was send some proof of ID. After I sent that in I got the card about 7 days later.

It's a bit of a pain having to wait but the 5% cashback is well worth it, i've already made £75 off it!

Its probably just me forgetting. I can barely remember what I had for lunch nevermind the terms of a credit card application from a few months back. Probably best to just ignore me :)

I had the same message as you and never got a confirmation from them that I'd been accepted - I just got the card through, and a phone call on the day the card arrived to welcome me to Amex. So just hang on a bit longer and you might receive it :)
