Well you could give it as a gift but they would have to spend it before or on the 24th of december, the date is mentioned in the ad so i dont see an issue with it

  • Receive your gift card* from Currys when you reserve online and collect instore. This offer is not available for telephone orders or orders placed online. You can redeem your £10 gift card on anything instore. The card cannot be redeemed against online purchases. Redeemable from 5th December until 24th December 2008.

There is some word on the street that PC World's days may be numbered.

    Then you need new sources.

Curries have been running at a loss for several months but PC World keeps pulling profit in - They have got a lot (and I mean a LOT) of cash saved away for store refits which they can use if things get bad - Curries will fall before PC World...

It is a promotion to get people into store and buy certain items. I see no scam here.

Who said anything about a scam? This board is not just about rip-offs, it's also about warnings, which is all this is. If you're going to acquire this card, if it was going to sway you into buying something which would yield it as a perk, then simply make sure it is what you want, because if it's for a Christmas present, it's liable to be useless. But if you're happy to use it before Christmas Eve, then the warning doesn't apply to you.

    That's all, no drama.

There's nothing I can see in the terms and conditions to stop you buying a £10 gift card, and using the free gift card as payment. Hence you'd end up with a gift card that wouldn't expire. In theory.

As to them closing down? Doubtful. I suspect they may possibly end up closing some of their stores - not the PC World ones that have had the fancy new makeover, but some of the ones that haven't.

Well there is, its the bit that says you cant use gift cards to buy gift cards

How am I blinkered, exactly? DSGi have enough to refurbish ALL the stores - and a smaller stores refit costs in excess of £1m. That means that, at the least, they have around £200m "spare" before they are actually loosing money, let alone other money they haved saved away...

I don't love the company but I don't think they'll be going under soon.
