My wife is pregnant (early 10 weeks) with our 1st child. She has been diagnosed with "viral labarinthitis" and we cannot find an answer to say wether this will harm the unborn. Any help would be appreciated as wife is quite worried but Doctor didn't seem to say anything. If no answer then can you point me in the right direction of an "british" health chat forum website.
Thanks

Helps if you spell it right.

If you had typed labarinthitis into Google, it gives you the option of correcting your spelling and would have found you the answers you were looking for.

Labyrinthitis is HORRIBLE, I've had it, very badly in July and had to take a week off work.
I shouldn't think it would harm the baby in anyway at all but she needs to obviously double check with medication, etc.
I have found that the best way to stave off an attack is, at the slightest sign of dizziness, to lie down on the side of my head. HTH. Meant to also say I managed mine without any medication at all. Not that I'm suggesting anyone do this, but it can be done. That's Numberwang!0 -

Thanks, but I don't need a lesson on how to use Google and smart remarks about my spelling. All I wanted is what the question asked, and that was if anyone had had any personal experience of it and if not where is there a chat forum where you don't get smart remarks from when you post a quite serious question.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? Scary Wife gets it, it's not nice.
NHS Direct may be your best bet for medical questions, this place is full of quacks! It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
Congratulations ! Babies are lovely, labyrinthitis is horrible.
Check out NHSDirect for accurated information. Beware chat forums which are full of moaners and 'mine's worse than yours' posts sprinkled with a tiny bit of info which may or may not be accurate..................

My daughter has been diagnosed with this, and is feeling awful ,she is also 10 weeks pregnant and is suffering badly with morning sickness. Her doctor has told her there is no risk to the baby so your wife and baby should be fine in a week or two .0 -
Hello Mr & Mrs Chalky-Bertie,
I've had this condition several times and my doctor didn't prescribe any medication for it, he did advise me to take travel sickness pills if I felt the need though, to try and redress the balance. I don't think that there is anything that your doctor can prescribe for you tbh, it's a sort of 'work itself out' kinda thing.
It is horrible and of course you're both concerned as this is your first child.0 -
Don't let your wife take any pill not prescribed by her doctor.0
