Nissan spare car key - Cheaper way than dealer?

The trouble with some keys these days is they are laser cut, and internally rather than with external shaping like your door key. Plus to get the blank with the relevant chip in for the alarm/immobiliser is the same price as one already cut to match your lock...why then pay extra to get it cut at Timsons etc?!:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

That is why the dealer will want the key and your car to make another key, while Timpsons will only need the key..
I hope that will helpBe nice, life is too short to be anything else.0 -

Timpsons CANNOT clone nissan nats system. Dont fall for them saying yes and charging you anything for testing it:rolleyes:
you need to look up auto locksmiths in your local yellow pages and phone them and ask if they can clone the transponder chip0 -

The latter is more expensive, but better as you will be able, in some cars, to programm more keys yourself. Timsons key will be with transponder that is cloned from your original key, thus, the car will recognise them as one key, rather than two 'friendly' keys if you get dealers one..

As I said above, Timpsons cannot clone the nissan transponder chip, I have it in writing from their head office after being charged for a copy that didnt work and a refusal for a refund:rolleyes: Only certain auto locksmiths can do it, it's all down to the chip being a random rolling algorthmic system or something, very complex to copy aparently. If you get a key with transponder only, when you unlock the car the alarm will sound until you put the key in the ignition and turn the ignition on, but as I said, you can get a fob on ebay and program it quite easily yourself so as the central locking will open and disarm the alarm system then your copy key will start the car:) Please note the Nissan NATS system is different from other systems like ford vauxhall etc which cost a nice tenner to copy0 -

Ginger nuts - What sort of place would I need to find to get a key with imob chip in? Im not too bothered about the remote locking.. just wanted to have a space incase we manage to lose the only one we had - wouldnt want to be locked out.
I presume my local timpsons cant do it? lol.
Timpsons can copy the blade, but as I have said they cannot copy the immobiliser chip(which are coloured differently and vary from key to key). Have a look in your local yellow pages or yell.com for a auto locksmith or a good locksmiths and phone them and ask them if they can clone the Nissan NATS system key, should be around the £50 mark for a blade and chip cut:)0
