Nissan spare car key - Cheaper way than dealer?

We are looking at buying a 52 reg Almera Tino from a private seller. He only has one key as he lost his spare. We would want to have two as I am hopeless for losing things and wouldnt want to be locked out. I rang our local Nissan dealer who says it will cost £191.90 incl vat as it is linked to the alarm and immobiliser.
Ouch!!
Is there a cheaper way to do this? I am not very technically minded.
Thinking of asking the seller to reduce price a bit more, but we have already bargained to within an inch of his life so not sure he will be able to go any lower.

negotiate some/all of the cost with the seller in the purchase price?Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0

A dealer will be the only option. I'd get a discount from the seller towards the cost...:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

A dealer quoted me a similar price for an immobiliser key... so I went to a key cutting place and had one done there for £25, it works fine. Since you have an alarm it may be a different situation though.
I may be overthinking here but as you're buying privately, you should probably assure yourself the key is actually lost and that once you are sold the car he or anyone else won't 'find' the spare key again...

Tell the seller the cost of a key, and ask him to reduce the price of the car accordingly, or provide a second key. If they don't budge, well that's your cue to either buy or walk.0

The nissan key can be copied, although a decent locksmith will charge around 55 for a key with the immobiliser chip in it, this will not operate the central locking reotely tho, it will open the door and allow you to start the car. If you want another remote alongwith the key it will be around £150 at an independent locksmith. I know this as I have exactly the same car and had the same problem until about a fortnight ago, you will not get a key and chip for a nissan done for £25. If you want to have a seperate remote, you can buy a secondhand one off ebay of the same style and it is pretty easy to reprogram it to your car, hope this helps0

Get the seller to pay for having the locks changed.
A friend of mine bought a second hand car, the dealer had only one key. A few nights later, my friends neighbour caught someone trying to steal the car, which was parked on the street. Fortunately they'd had an immobiliser fitted. They held onto the would br thief until the police arrived. Turned out someone had dropped him off and given him the missing key to enable him to drive it away.
Interestingly, my friend lives 30 miles from the dealer where they bought the car, and the thieves turn up on their doorstep...I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Thanks all.
Ginger nuts - What sort of place would I need to find to get a key with imob chip in? Im not too bothered about the remote locking.. just wanted to have a space incase we manage to lose the only one we had - wouldnt want to be locked out.
