Paypal Scam ??

Are there any scams using paypal on Ebay being paid twice for the same item ?
This just happened to me one paypal payment arrived then 5 mins later the same amount arrived in my account. The buyer is new with zero feedback not had any other emails from them.Just reminds me of the ebay scam where the buyer overpays and you refund the difference then the money in your account is clawed back.

It could be a newbie who has made a mistake! I don't really know?! perhaps hold tight and just wait and see what happens! don't refund until the 30 days have gone so they can't "Claw" back the money - This is just what I would do sorry can't be much help! :-/

Email the buyer and ask if they know what's going on
Make sure when you send the item you send it recorded or special delivery so you have proof of delivery to cover your !!!!!! if he does a charge back on paypal
That's my advice ;D0 -
If its a newby buyer they probably clicked the pay button twice. (my mum did it the other day). The seller refunded the amount no problem and it was for £60.
I would be nice and tell the buyer myself

Ah just noticed the refund bit on paypal they hide these things well :-X Which means the buyer is stung for paypal charges too.0

This happened to me a couple of days ago.
"naive" ebayer. Paid twice - by mistake she says. I refund her straight away. She's panicked and told her bank who she says will try to stop one of the payments.
I've spoken to her on the phone and she sounds genuine enough. I haven't had a clawback yet...although it wouldn't surprise me to get it
Now I see this on here....and I'm worried all over again :-/
Just hoping it's a genuine mistake, and if not, that Paypal will recharge her - I can prove I sent the goods by carrier.0 -

Only the person receiving the money is charged, not the sender.
If a refund of all or part of a paypal payment is made then the person receiving that refund pay no charges and the charges associated with the original payment are refunded to the original receiver as well.
So, if you receive a payment by mistake that ends up at £9 after charges as long as you use the refund button on paypal the full payment will be refunded to the seller but only the payment received of £9 will be deducted from your account. You must do a proper refund though and not just send an amount back.

For the future it is worth noting that sellers are only protected if they can prove 'delivery' not posting.
It doesn't matter how many proofs of postage you have paypal will ask to see proof of delivery usually by some sort of online tracking like recorded or special delivery.

Check out if the buyer has bought anything else recently - check whether they are genuine! If they haven't yet contact you just hold tight! Was it for a lot of money?
