Ebay - Proof Of Posting
Sylvester
Hi
Bought something off eBay which hasn't arrived 3 weeks later.
Seller says they posted day after auction, and they have certificate of posting, and has asked me to ask at my local delivery office.
They have given me no details of what is on the certificate of posting and say that it's my job to sort it out.
I've never had an eBay problem before (lucky!) and have never even seen a certificate of posting, so i'm in the dark.
Is it my responsibility to do the chasing, or the sellers?
I will go over anyway as I live 5 mins from the delivery office, but they have big signs up saying 'no card, no asking for parcels', so I envisage a battle
Thanks

It is the sellers job to sort this out, because a proof of posting is not an acceptable proof of delivery when and if it comes to a claim.
Ebay/PayPal will want to see a delivery number from a recorded delivery slip, otherwise you will be entitled to your money back if you are forced to claim as he/she has next to no proof that they item has been received or not, so has no usable proof. A certificate of posting is not accepted by Ebay as proof.
Phone your post office, they should be able to tell you if they are holding anything, if they are not then I would go through the claims procedure. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0 -
Thanks zenseeker.
Rather than phone them, i'm off over there as it's en route to another destination, so i'll just pop in.
I think this seller is going to cause me trouble - something I have never had before, so all quite new to me.
Thanks for the info and advice and shall return to say what happens.0 -
Lodge a dispute with ebay/Paypal if you can't sort it. ebay/Paypal always, in my experience, support the buyer.0

Just get a paypal claim in. The moment a seller proves themselves TSFE (Too stupid for ebay) by insisting that the buyer needs to claim I lose any reasonableness I might otherwise have had and would go straight to a chargeback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The Post Office said basically that it's down to the seller, as previously stated on this thread.
However...it's become apparent now that my partner is also missing two packages that were sent out the same day, looking back at our e-mails from sellers informing us, so this may not be a seller issue, but a post issue.
I'm not sure where to go from here. I can't accuse anyone of anything, but I don't want to start a chargeback when i'm not 100% if it's the sellers or the postal service.
EDIT: Partner has received an e-mail and one seller has said they will send it out again as they can't be sure they sent the original item. It was only a couple of £, but will still feel guilty if the original package then turns up.0 -
Doesn't matter about other missing parcels, do exactly as stated above. The seller should have proof of posting to cover their own losses so don't be too concerned about them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Okay, shall do.
I'm awaiting a reply to my last e-mail and if I don't get it tonight, i'll start the chargeback.

This happens to me ALL THE TIME! My OH and I always joke that the Post Office will only deliver parcels when they have stashed 5 of them to our address, grrrrrrrr. So far everything has always arrived on the last chance day (i.e. 15th working day after posting) ... It drives me insane though ...0 -
I'm on the other end of one like this. I have a seller claiming not to have got a parcel but they have been pestering me since the day they paid it and I get the feeling by some of there messages that they know the ropes of claiming etc.0

Should be no problem assuming you covered yourself against non-delivery?0
