They have health grills in the argos sale, might be worth a look - at least with a heath grill you can cook more than just sandwiches.

oh just gotta say this the plural of panini is panini :)
as for health grills etc I dont understand what the fuss is about, All cookers have a grill these days, and when I cook meat under it I find the fat drips off just the same. If you have a heavy frying pan or a griddle on your cooker you can get something called a bacon press( american thing) which is like a OS Iron, a lump of cast iron with a handle on it.

OH the other day did one of these with a bread roll in the George Foreman grill thing we had bought for us and tasted quite nice actually :p

He put some butter in a pan and chopped up a couple of mushrooms, abit of red and green pepper and some grated carrot & apple. Then added a little of the left over chicken, then placed in the roll with some grated cheese and squished in the grill and was done in about 2 mins. It tasted lovely.

    xx

Thanks for that idea, I have and do most things with my George Foreman grill but didn't ever think of doing a filled roll.

So was it worth getting it out of the garage? I have a breadmaker resting in the garden hut and I often wonder if I should bring it out but I either buy a small loaf to fit the toaster or dd makes the bread.

I find the big advantage to using the George Foreman is the speed as you are cooking both sides at one time and no having to keep an eye on it or where the fat is splattering and saves the bending down to see what is happening.

Might need to buy some baguettes this afternoon to try this out for suppericon7.gif

    Hi,

Remembered this post when I was decided I'd like to make panini from scratch, didn't seem to get a recipe posted - I just found this and I'm about to try it out. Thought other OS would like to try it too

    Cheers

    oops sorry...

    Grilled Panini Bread

1 Tsp Surebake Yeast,1/2 Tsp Sugar
    3 1/4 Cup High grade flour,1 1/4 Cup Luke-warm water
    1 1/2 Tsp Salt,3 Tbl Olive oil

Place ingredients into breadmaker pan in order listed.

    Programme to dough cycle.

Once cycle has finished, divide dough into six pieces.

Knead dough into balls on a lightly floured surface, then roll out into
ovals about the thickness of a pizza base.

Repeat with the rest of the dough then place the panini onto a floured
surface, cover with a clean tea towel and leave to rise for an hour.

Preheat oven and oven tray to 200 C.

Bake panini for about 7 minutes or until puffed but not brown.

After they were cooked what did you do with them? Did you put some sort of topping on them and sandwich them down in a grill?
