We all need a bit of silliness in our lives Prim. As far as research is concerned, I wouldn't know about the finances of CP that's between them and their bank manager. Company Directors are in the public domain however but it would be unfair to publish names here.0

can any one remember flumps? space dust?aah child hood memories, this thread takes me back!!!
I think the OP had a valid point and genuine concern with no interest in this company.
Funny how people with new companies spend all day googling their business names, low and behold MSE pops up. Lets join and set record sort of straight from our point of view!! Distorts the reason for post!
What i find curious/suspicious is when they join straight up and post , then refuse to admit they are affiliated!!
If it was "all that" they should be proud to put their point across on an identifiable basis.
No need to hide if you believe in what you say. Even if its a load of SH$t. Have courage in your convictions,0 -

Logie,
To be fair the owner of CP did start a thread, which was deleted. Martin presumabably doesn't run this site for other people to advertise their commercial enterprises.
As someone who has only expressed concerns about the operation, I still think it is reasonable for someone, anyone, to explain how we consumers will gain.
It is easy enough to evisage how CP could gain if they give names of 'those interested in cheaper fuel' to a Utility company.
However as I read their website, they expressly rule out 'negotiating' a cut price deal for their registered members.
Their silence on this point, and the personal attacks, make me more convinced that the only people to gain financially will be the organisers of the company.
Surely Martin, Which etc would be really happy to endorse an organisation that would save consumers money.0 -
Perhaps the individuals who have time to post silly cartoons or cynical remarks could spend a little time doing something useful and conduct some serious research to discover and update us about the individuals and financing behind Community Purchasing?
Well at leats a couple of them are posting under identities here so maybe they could just fess up and be a bit honest about it. They'd acheive more by admitting they are involved and their aims than hiding behind pseudonyms and posting info they "got from a phone call". If they admit they're involved I'd probably sign up and see how it goes. Whilst they are deciding to be dishonest and lie about their intentions, I'll assume their scheme intends to do the same.0 -
How can they save the average consumer any money?
They cant!
It costs a certain amount to supply an individual, no matter how many of those individuals get together to buy their gas or electric.
Still have:
seperate customers, seperate premeises, seperate meters, seperate bills, seperate accounts etc etc
These costs are relatively fixed.
Business can get different rates for gas & electric as they are having more supplied to a premises, & all bills etc can be consolidated & centralised.0
