You don’t seriously think that any company is going to voluntarily offer to reduce its pricing! Get real!

Nope, I've never seen a company offer any price reductions without being petitioned - that just wouldn't make business sense at all.

. I don’t know if what Community Purchasing are doing will work. but its intentions are laudable.

This post started off as a refreshing read with contributors recognising that nothing is guaranteed but that doing something is better than nothing.

I’m afraid my scorn for people who belittle others attempts to achieve whilst offering nothing of any value themselves knows no bounds. Do we really care how these people are going to make their money (even this site profits from its visitors), that they don’t staff their phones 24/7, and that you might get sent junk mail as a result of joining. The point is they are trying to do SOMETHING!

Whilst I understand that people don’t always agree, those of you out there who are consistently throwing up problems and reasons why this might not work would be better putting forth an alternative that will help people. Any useful ideas i’m sure we’d all be keen to hear them!

    Scorn?

You join MSE just to defend the company? Mmmm Works both ways!

Do you not understand the concerns above?

I, and I suspect most others, have absolutely no idea what the benefits to us consumers will be, how it will work and how the company will be financed.

Do you understand? If so please enlighten us.

I can only think that details of registered users will be passed to companies saying that we are interested in cheaper fuel.

If Boby Moore were to turn up in the England squad, he'd be a born again defender too!

Although you may not have heard of Boby Moore. Bobby Moores brother who couldn't type.

  • I think we can conclude this thread by saying Boby Moore’s brother thinks a petition will get the energy bosses quaking in their boots and Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super Fan has confirmed he is utterly devoid of any ideas which would help address the problem of fuel prices. You can see why the MSE site warns people that ranking according to the number of posts is only for fun and that people should be wary of drawing any conclusions as to competence from these rankings.

Fortunately the more enlightened will realise the point of this thread was not to defend Community Purchasing but to find a solution to help those who, as Primrose says, have to choose between heat and eat. These people don’t give a monkey’s about stupid cartoons or Fantastically Fervent egos. All they want is someone to sort the problem and no one has come up with a better solution. Money saving experts from Newbie to Fantastically Fervent MoneySaving Super Fan have been put to the test. Some will move on and do something concrete to help those who need it and some will continue their sad careers to achieve the ultimate ranking of Seriously Hindering Innovative Thought Money Saver.

To me, that ridiculously immature post more or less proves you have something to do with this company. Strange thread, this.

I'm reluctant to continue engaging in a debate where people are just making silly posts. My purpose in bringing the Community Purchasing initiative to everybodys' attention was in the hope that something along these lines might put pressure on the fuel companies and help ultimately to get a cheaper energy price for some people. Perhaps the individuals who have time to post silly cartoons or cynical remarks could spend a little time doing something useful and conduct some serious research to discover and update us about the individuals and financing behind Community Purchasing?
