I had my interview for AO two weeks ago and I just want some feedback or some kind of response to how well, or not that Ive done!!!!!!! Its so frustrating, I really want this job! How long is a normal amount of time to wait?

There isn't really a normal time to wait it depends on whatever system your recruiters are using. It also depends on where you are in the interview chain. If you're the last to be interviewed you will have less time to wait than the earlier interviewees who might have weeks to wait just before the interviewing stops.

Always best to ask roughly how long to hear from them at the end when they ask you if youhave any questions.

Gl btw! Hope you've got the job!! fwiw i had to wait a little over a week to find out if I was successful but I was one of the last to be interviewed which helped with the time i think.

    Hi All,

Has anyone applied recently for DWP with the new competencies and had an interview? What questions were you asked? Also nowadays DWP are having 1hr online tests before interview? What tests are these? (is this to speed up the recruitment process)? (see below for the new competencies)

    Behavioural competencies
    Analysing, Improving and Changing (29KB) pdf_icon.gif – level 1
    Building Capability !(27KB) pdf_icon.gif – level 1
    Delivering a Customer Focused Service (23KB) pdf_icon.gif – level 1

    Professional competencies
Delivering a Customer Focused Service – level 1
    Operational Delivery competencies
Please someone reply - thanks in advance!
  • Do the offer letters let you know if you are being recruited on a permanent or fixed term bases? Cause I was told that even a vacancy had been permanent it can be changed at the point of offer if they no longer require permanent staff

Not sure - but I applied for a permanent position and HAVE been offered a permanent post :j I was getting a little worried at reading through all these threads hearing that people seemed to get a 16 - 18 month contract.
So there are permanent positions out there.
    Good Luck.

    Hi! All,

I have been reading the DWP posts on here for a while now and just wanted to share my story with you so far...
I applied for an AO postion online on 23rd March, 2009. My application was successful and 4 weeks later I attended the numeracy and literacy selection tests. In my group being tested there were about 30 people for that time slot on that day. After waiting about 20 minutes while the test papers were marked we were all called back in and were told we had all passed and were issued with a large envelope full of forms to fill in and to bring back with us at our interview. My interview date was enclosed within the envelope which was the following week!
I attended the interview as invited and brought along all the relevant information aswell as a passport size photograph. After all my forms had been checked I was then interviewed by two DWP staff for about 30 minutes.
I felt at the time my interview had gone well and I had done my best. I was told I should hear something within 2-3 weeks, although I knew that the CRB checks can take about 20 days to be completed.
This all took place about 5 weeks ago and I have been waiting patiently, hoping and praying I get the job. I had heard nothing until about a week ago when I received a phonecall from MANPOWER inviting me along again to be INTERVIEWED ALL OVER AGAIN aswell as going through all the form-filling too. I did not have to re-sit the selection testing. So off I trotted again to the same place to be interviewed exactly the same just by Manpower staff this time. I felt I had done my best at the interview and was told I should hear something within 21 days, but it was DWP in Newcastle that were handling it all. Manpower I believe have just been brought in with the recruitment process to help speed things up, as the DWP staff (bless them!) are just so over flowing with work loads from such a massive response to their national recruitment campaign!
This forum has been an absolute blessing for me and helps to keep me positive knowing that there are so many of us out there still waiting to hear about a job we so want to do!

    Living in hope,
    Aaliyah x

    Hi All,

Had an interview for EO 18 April (yes a Saturday). Received a letter dated 26 April saying you have been successful and we are now undertaking pre-recruitment checks etc. Will be undertaking security checks etc "we have now sent this form to Disclosure Scotland for the completion of the security check".

Today 2 June have heard nothing further. I contacted Disclosure Scotland who say they have no record of it!!!!! I spoke with the checking team at DWP Newcastle who say they received IRC**** batch on 8 May!!!!! I have spoken to the Recruitment Section and they say they will call me back (I'm not holding my breath).

Has anyone else experienced something similar or can anyone through any light on this?

    Regards

To all previous, present and “future” DWP employees - My experience with DWP – I Finally have a start date!!!! J

    Job: Benefit Delivery Officer/BDO/Band B

    DEC 2008 – Applied
    8TH JAN 2009 – Took tests
    13TH FEB 2009 – Attended Interview
24TH FEB 2009 – Wrote to me – passed & on waiting list
7TH & 8th APRIL 2009 – CRB form sent to me to fill in and send back to DWP to send off to Scotland
    20th APRIL 2009 – Pre-recruitment checks being done
21ST APRIL 2009 – Request to complete health, character, criminal record forms again (already done at interview but had expired)
14th MAY 2009 – DWP sent my CRB off to Scotland for processing
01 JUNE 2009 – CRB back from Scotland, checks come back all clear
02 JUNE 2009 – Phone call to ask me which location I want to work and start date!

That’s my experience with DWP and all in all, I was on the waiting list for 14 weeks! – I remained positive and very patient and kept on following up everything (CRB, Checks, waiting list position, interview score etc)

Would have preferred a customer faced role but I'm not complaining! (still on waiting list, checks being done for AO positons too)

I’d like to say a special thanks to each and every person who contributed on this forum with their advice, feedback, experiences and help to do with DWP and recruitment process. Special thanks go to those already working for DWP as well those who will be soon (hopefully). I’d like to wish people the best those who are applying/on waiting list/awaiting checks and hope you all get a start date soon (when you get the call, it’s a great feeling) – especially after waiting so long!

Thanks for reading and hope I didn’t bore you too much: P lol

I don't know about too much info, but too much of the wrong kind is definitely not going to be much help. People should remember the STAR format...situation, task, action, result. And remember to keep it to what YOU did, not 'we', or 'the team'.

That's great advice I failed the AO interview then passed the EO one ... surprisingly.
