Thanks sjh.
I've got Sygate Firewall Pro 5.5 on here. I connect with BT Broadband 2mb. I assume that's what you mean, seeing as I'm not particularly techie minded. :rolleyes:0 -

Thanks, Browntoa.
I've installed 7.0777 so I'll see how I get on with that.
There's still no audio on Messenger. A pal suggested I should look at Tools>Options>Alerts And Sounds>Sounds.
Bit strange. When I scroll down Program Events to MSN Messenger it says "No Sounds" for all Messenger options. (The Sound Scheme is "Windows Default").
I've no idea how that's happened. Is there any way I can fix it? I can't hear any Messenger soundclips on the list.
Hope that makes sense.
PS - On the Alerts And Sounds window, "Display Alerts when contacts come online/when a message is received" are ticked.0 -
That's where your problem is coming from - Windows hasn't been told it has to play a sound on a specific MSN Messenger event. (Or it has been told and somehow the sounds have been disabled)LouLou wrote:I've installed 7.0777 so I'll see how I get on with that.

To get them playing again, simply go into the Sounds box and enter the following paths next to the appropriate alert.- Contact Online: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\online.wav
- New Alert: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\newalert.wav
- New Mail: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\newemail.wav
- New Message: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\type.wav
- New Mobile Message: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\ring.wav
- Nudge: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\nudge.wav
- Voice Call: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\phone.wav
- Voice Clip Finished: C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\vimdone.wav

I'm gald to hear it's now sorted. This is how I fixed my sound problem when my sounds disappeared - I have no idea why they disappear, but this is how to get them back.LouLou wrote:You've cracked it! Eureka! This has been doing my head in for months.
