Any 3 deals? Opinions on Nok 6280?

Has anyone been offered any decent deals on upgrades on 3 recently?!?!

I called them to cancel my contract yesterday and they offered me the Nokia 6280 for £15 a month on a 12 month contract. (200 mins and 100 texts deal).

I quite like the 3 network (yes I know, it is weird!!!) but not heard much about this phone. Anyone got one or anyone know what its like. I was asking for the N70 with 2mp camera but this one has the cam too.

A total cost of £180 over the year seems a good deal to me! :j
The only thing that annoys me about "3" phones and Nokia is that you aren't able to unlock them to use on another network, but if you are happy to use it on "3" forever then it's good :j

Does this phone have a memory card slot? Can it take Mini SD as I read somewhere that it has "support for Mini SD" but does that mean it will take an SD or not?!?!

Are you certain you can't unlock it? I had a 7600 on 3 and I unlocked that easily!

Any good or bad points to this phone? Is the camera any good?!?

Can you unlock the buttons and read texts etc without sliding the keypad down because I used to have the 7110 (ages ago) and you had to always slide it down because you needed the # key even just to read texts!

I'd imagine it has a memory slot, it'll either be RS-MMC or Mini SD, it will explain this on the Nokia site, it'll also say which memory card it comes with.
It will not take an SD card.

"3" released the 7600 which you could unlock, then since then, the 6630 and 6680 haven't been unlockable. There is a chance this too will be unlockable, but I don't know for sure. I had a search and couldn't find anything, try pm'ing browntoa.

I'm sorry I can't answer any other questions, I haven't really looked in detail the info about this phone.

It's definitely worth haggling with 3 as they've some good offers on at the moment...

My 12 month contract is ending too. Called to cancel and explained i was planning to go for a CPW offer (Motorola E1000 9 months free line rental with 275 anytime on vodaphone if anyone interested..see P4 of sale brochure).

After a bit of bartering the nice lady eventually offered 500mins and 100txts for £15 a month (for 18 months) with choice of RAZR V3, LGU880 or Nokia 6280 handsets (went for the Nokia).

She even charging the last month of present contract at half price. Phone due to arrive Weds...(exciting!)

I was thinking about getting the Nokia 6280. I tried it in the 3 shop the other day and it seemed quite impressive... good camera, quite compact and a large screen. Apparently there will be a wait for new customers, though existing customers upgrading will get this phone first. I also spoke to someone in the Orange shop and they said not to bother as it wasn't a good phone. So I guess its down to personal preferences etc as the features/deals seem good. Maybe worth trying a demo phone before committing. I do prefer it to the N70.

I gave up waiting on the 6280 to come out and opted for the 6270 instead on an 02 online tariff and the phone came unlocked:j so it wont be a redundant brick like my 3 contract 6680 which 3 wont unlock for me. These phone are just the same apart from a few things ie 2nd camera which i wouldnt use and size wize 6270 is marginally bigger (4mm) and for some reason the photos on a 6270 are better than the 6280 (taken from what mobile forums) and the 6280 is 3g whereas the 6270 is 2g but i dont do a lot if any surfing on the phone another plus to the 6270 is it comes with 128mb memory card and the 6280 is only 64mb.

N80 im sure is due out in march but take into account when the 6280 was due and when it will finally be availble

the 6270 is quite a bit bigger, not sure if this page will come out

thats the only thing that put me off. But as the 6280 doesnt seem to be going to be released i guess ill have to look elsewhere.
