i trust u already have a bt line?
if so you need not do anything.
just dial 18866 and the full number (with code) and you pay 1p a call and pay BT nothing except line rental.

as for talk talk, try their web site for details.
  • Its also worth checking out 1899 depending on if you are going to use 18866 for international calls too as for some countries 1899 is cheaper. Nothing to stop you signing up for both as you will only get a bill for calls you make through each company.

Personally I only use 18866 as they are cheaper than 1899 for calls to NZ and for my daytime UK calls their connection fee is only 1p compared to 1899 at 3p.

Are you on a package with BT that you need to change to Option 1? If so, yes you would be cheaper changing to Option 1 and signing up with TalkTalk for free UK calls in the evening and w/ends.

So 1899 is like 1866 but a little more expensive, which is cheaper for mobiles.

    Thanks will check out talktalk.

From a BT landline during the week, 1899 charges 3p connection and then 10p/minute to mobiles at the moment (18866 charges 1p connection and then 12p/minute).

At the weekend, 1899 is still cheaper - charging 3p connection and then 2p/minute as opposed to 18866's 1p connection and then 3p/minute.
