thanks for your replies, he spoke to his boss about it and he told him they are still looking into it, but it was defo agreed before he went out that it would be acting paid, as he said himself he wouldn't have done it unless he was going to be paid extra for it, as extra responsbilities etc. He's supposed to be going out again next year acting but says he's not going to this time, and
someone else can do it, as its not worth it.0 -

RMs?
PTI's used to be SAC/A/Cpl unpaid, but they recently got SAC/A/Cpl paid. The reason being is that they have to instruct.
RAF Police are SAC/A/Cpl unpaid until promotion to substantive. Yet they have to discipline, at major incidents and during silent hours are always the ones senior officers, duty officers seek advice from, yet still they are officially equivelant rank of a private/L/Cpl when it comes to pay!!0 -

yawn!! Yes this was true, about 10 years ago!!! We are now higher pay band due to our training and diverse/specialist roles.
Pay after one year: £17,475
rising to a max of of £27599.
Not bad for a SAC/Pte/L/Cpl!!

Acting Rank - unpaid - usually to fill in a slot on det, or when the rank is needed on unit when a boss is off for a period of time. It is usually used in conjunction with substitution pay.
Coppers etc, Acting unpaid, as for all intensive purposes the rank is for reasons of discipline, rather than the actual job.
Promotion - usually acting - paid, until courses are completed.
As for the OP, substitution pay has its own rules, and will be dependant on actual length of time on det, but its only 21 days unbroken time iirc0
