Advice needed pls on Acting Pay

Hello!

My Husband whos in the RAF was out on detachment in February time this year, he was out as acting Corporal, and he had to have his det cut short due to me having an ectopic pregnancy in and out of hosp etc, he was aloud home early to support me.

He's been out on det again since, but we are still waiting for his acting pay to come through, all these months later and I know he only did half his det, but surely he is entitled to that what he actually worked? His Boss has turned around and told him after us waiting all these months, that actually he's not owed it, and won't get it. Can they do this? Its only around £300, not a massive amount, but still...!

You can be claseed as acting with pay or without pay so it depends on what was agreed at the time. A good few years ago my husband was acting cpl (paid) and it took about 8 months to get the money through as the paperwork kept getting lost from his boss to PSF. I'd imagine it's a bit different now with JPA but if there was no written agreement to say he'd receive pay then I'm not sure you'll get it - sorry.

hello. I was in the RAF too. They can do this. Some posts while away on det require you to be a minimum rank of a cpl. Especially if you are working with the other services. I would say that you will not get this money now. They normally only sort out your pay back up to 6 months ago. no longer. Sorry. It's crap I hate it,I did 6 years, my husband is still serving and all the not knowing makes me mad!!! trying to get my son into school in september, hubby is awaiting promotion and all the board says is phone back next week every time.

What type of det?

Was it acting paid or acting unpaid? Just beacuse he was acting up does not mean he is entitled to the pay.

Does he have copies of the paperwork?

Local no pay

Acting and substansive you get paid for.....normally when acting it means your going to keep it (but not always the case)

Normally you only get local for a period of time

Not always. It depends on the circumstances...

I have recieved local acting rank and substitution pay on many occasions at the same time..

local rank is no pay

Acting rank is paid

Substansive is obviously paid

no such thing as local acting rank

It will say on JPA if you are acting rank....it will NOT say if you are local...because you don't get paid for local rank

However you can get extra pay because your in a job that should be of higher rank....ie pay of higher rank

You DONOT get paid for local rank.

People sometimes mix up local with acting

Here we have acting unpaid NCO's, and acting paid NCO's (who will not be keeping it)...depends on the exact circumstances wether they get A/pd or A/upd..

With local rank, substitution pay can be applied for making it in essence paid..

again people get acting mixed up with local

you will NOT get paid for local rank...only acting and substansive

or you will get paid for "pay of higher rank" where you keep your same rank but get higher pay because of the job your in

Ive found that a lot of the promotion actions Ive taken in the past for people (which have been correct btw) have not been done. I don't know what the after action for promotion entails in the RAF, but JPA can have big problems with backdating promotion which may have something to do with it. It should be something that the pay office can easily reconcile.
