Frustrated with CCCS

I just want to vent of some frustration and given I am in the house on my own you lucky guys all get it...
I'm just soooo annoyed with the whole process and wondering if I have chosen the right people to go with... we first contacted CCCS many moons ago and had to wait 2 weeks for their first telephone contact then another 2 weeks before they would phone us again then another 2 weeks before they sent the paperwork out to us and guess what we returned our forms yep, 2 weeks ago, having just phone them (again) this morning wondering what the delay was to be told - they didn't have the right paper work - I insisted we had sent is as we had kept a copy- the guy on the phone went away and checked and said 'oh yes, it is here I think the person whose dealing with it has read it wrong', leave it with me - then to be told, oh, I need provide photographic id signed by a 'professional' apparently to prove I'm not an illegal immigrant! unbelievable! ... more delays as I can't get that until next week! (two issues here, I liked the idea of remaining faceless and also asking a 'professional' to sign what on earth do I say I need it for!). I was then advised only after they received that will they then start putting together our 'proposal'....(of course this will take time- read here more delay!) I can't help but wonder if we should of gone elsewhere! yes, I understand the checks but why isn't that included as standard in the beginning it feels like they 'have moved the goal posts'.
It would have given me a little faith to know that they had at least 'started' the proposal! At the moment I am questioning their 'competancy' which I'm sure is irrational but..... I'm still annoyed at them, think the guys attitude on the phone didn't help, instead of trying to reassure me etc.. he was just 'stroppy and challenged everything that I was saying which wound me up even more'.
In the mean time the credit card companies etc.. are all getting really difficult to deal with and their charges are increasing daily...
   :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: These make me smile so I'm putting them on!

Hi Hen,
I know it is frustrating i know how you feel. Just to reassure you though it is "normal".
We applied for an IVA and from inception to creditors meeting took about 3 months. As it happened it was rejected by one creditor and as such failed.
We started the process again with Payplan after the said creditor sold the debt onto a DCA again it seemed to take forever and we were sat wishing the days away. In the end we reconsidered and are for the moment at least staying on our DMP.
All i can say is that both CCCS and Payplan must be very busy in the current climate. I can assure you it was no better/quicker when we were with a fee paying company for our first IVA proposal.
We have found it is a bit of pot luck when you ring in. As i say we are with Payplan and in the main the folks we have spoken to have been more than helpful but on a couple of occassions we have ben frustrated/annoyed re attitude BUT 1/ The service is free 2/ We are all human and everyone can have a bad day no point in getting wound up as we found it does not help and the days don't go by any quicker.
You have to remember that you are under pressure/stress and things that would not usually bother you to any great extent suddenly do. I know it's hard but "slowly slowly catchy monkey" try to relax things will happen but only in their own time which is always slower than you'd like.0 -
I'm with CCCS and am just about to start my DMP. I didn't have to provide photographic ID?

Hi,
I'm currently with Payplan and to be honest they were the best out there at the time. Like yourself just wanted a facelsss person to sort our problems out - we first contacted 2 companies local to us and both took weeks to come back to us and in the end we could not wait any longer as the the longer we waited the bigger the chance one of our creditors could of put a len on our house i.e. requested we sell the house to pay them back the full total.
So we ended up searching the internet and found Payplan, they were quick in setting up the telephone interviews and sending the paperwork, we started ours in Jan 24th and we had it passed in the creditors meeting on April 10 but all the way through it payplan kept us up to date.
Good luck in whatever way you go..0 -
I'm on a dmp with CCCS and when I first rang them, roughly this time last year, it was ages before I had my telephone interview - took about 3 weeks if I recall and, yes I was frustrated and then when they did ring, I spent 20 mins crying on the phone! Had to get through a miserable Xmas in that time. Sometimes I feel confident with their advice and sometimes I don't - guess it just depends on who i speak to. If I don't feel confident, I speak to National Debtline and/or CAB and post on here and get further advice.
I didn't have to provide any photographic evidence either (which is just as well cos I don't do pics and would have been rejected if they had seen my pic!)Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hi
Yep, unfortunately this is normal with almost all of the debt companies now. That was one of the reasons I decided to do my own DMP and try my best. Going with any one of the companies out there will lead to more changes and time delays.
However, you just have to weigh up whether or not you are able to do your own or whether you really need the IVA and therefore have someone else do it for you.
Can I just say in sorting out your financial problems are scary and difficult to start with and whatever you do, ensure you have someone to talk things through. You are here.....thats prob the best thing you could do.DFW 228 LONG H 68

Thankyou for your replies, its interesting and good to see how others have/are coping.
Guess what - I am still waiting to hear from CCCS, I will try and call today for an update I guess it takes time but why so many months? We are feeling really stressed out/not sleeping and for some reason I feel angry - guess thats the frustration - I can't even think about Xmas!0 -
Another two weeks has passed and despite my telephone calls I'm still waiting on my proposal to be drawn up.... I spoke to a nice guy on the phone this time who seemed really busy, so I'm still waiting.. oh well nothing I can do here... I'll keep u all updated. I guess I ought to have renamed this.... iva diary eh!0

Sorry but I disagree,
This is not normal, and should not be tolerated.
You should have had your IVA proposal drafted by now, and you should be awaiting your creditors meeting. Simple as that.
'Useless with wonga' is right to say that we can all have a bad day, but 7 weeks?. And wrong to say that the service is free.
CCCS will be charging your creditors a Nominee"s fee, which will be included in your arrangement, a fee charged by them to your creditors for the work carried out for getting the IVA to the creditors meeting stage.
It ought to take no more than 3-4 weeks to get the draft proposal in your hands, unless there are obvious complications.
Any longer than that is below standard, IMO.
You should insist that someone begins drafting your IVA proposal straight away, or you should find a company who will treat your personal financial plight with the respect and attention it deserves.
If it were me I look elsewhere, never mind waiting till after Christmas.
Has anyone been in touch with your creditors yet, to explain that you are hoping to put forward an IVA?
Or have they been left hanging too?0 -
Hi Mother hen,
I have spoken to CCCSVA about your thread and they will contact you to discuss your concerns.
Would you be able to send me a PM with your details and I will arrange for them to call you asap.
Kind Regards

I found them unfriendly and unhelpful but they do help a lot of people who can't cope with their debts on their own. At the moment they must be snowed under with people needing help.
Remember as with banks, they just follow scripts we can do this or that but if computer says no or something get lost in the system it all breaks down.Barclaycard 3800
