Warm Front Grant 2nd Application, can I get a Gas Boiler?
When we moved into our house a few years ago, it did not have any central heating (and still doesnt!), or storage heaters etc.. in fact, nothing, apart from a clapped out warm air heating system int he living room.
Much to my suprise, when warmfront came round, they decided to replace this with a more modern, warm air heating system!! Whis is about as effective, and probably costly as leaving the oven open. Heat does not travel upstairs, and despite having new double glazing, cavity wall and loft installation, heat retention is quite poor.
Our hot water is supplied by an old emersion heater, which we have had to replace the element/thermostat several times over the pas year or so, and have been advised it really needs replacing or at least cleaning out due to the build up of limescale. This is left on 24hrs a day, as Im unsure whether heating it from cold an hour or so before needed, is any more economic than keeping it warm all day...
Ive been told that the difference between the original grant award, and what is now available, about £1000 or so, is still available... and I am wondering whether I can apply for this to go towards the cost of getting a gas boiler, and maybe some radiators installed... Im sure this would be far more economical, and befecial to us in the long run, then the warm air heating system they installed, and our failing emersion heater...
Any advice would be welcome, before I approach them again...

Even if the £1000 you have 'left' is available it looks like there will be quite a bit to pay on top. You might want to consider independent quotes.0
