im just reading through this and im so evious of you guys, your aims at paying your debts off i just dont have that capacity id be lucky to mange 1 k its so frustrating!

    DebtBgone,

Please don't be envious. We all have different circumstances and means and abilities of paying off our debts. I've been fortunate that I have been able to use savings to pay down the debt but it is still there and will be unless I do something extra to get rid of it.

I take all the advice I can find on MSE to earn the pennies as I don't have a job. My OH brings in £1700 a month, we pay out £1050 on our mortgage and the remainder (child benefit and basic child tax credit) is to pay the bills, keep two adults and three children and pay off the debts. I now see it as a challenge to get rid of the debts (and eventually the mortgage) on what I can 'earn' and am fortunate that I have a house full of clutter and books from my years of overspending. I have also found MBing is helping my quest quite a bit.

Saying that, I know how easy it is to wish you were standing in someone elses shoes. I dream of the day of when we don't owe a penny to anybody and when I hear of people on MSE who are in that position, I am so envious!

It's true. I often have down days when I feel like it's all too uphill for me, but you have to keep going. I am astonished at some of the amounts people are paying off too, and I think good for them, but we all have different circumstances. Despite DH and I earning good wages we have a large mortgage and crippling childcare costs (which will get much smaller come september; roll on school!). So I know I'm doing the very best I can, and that's all that matters. You should feel the same too.

Having said that, a small minimum payment of £17 to the barclaycard, until the next payday when I work out how much more I can afford to give.
