There is one with £100 off at Tesco for £349.
  • What will your 9 year old be using the laptop for? Dell, Toshiba, HP, Acer all sell laptops in your budget at the spec you want. Does he NEED a core 2 duo processor? Would a dual core celeron not be sufficient?

Best Dell deals, some within your budget at: https://www.dmxdimension.com

The Inspiron 1525 is a good machine, if you can stretch to the Pentium Dual Core T3200 2.0 GHz at £369 or the on extra offer Intel Core 2 Duo T5800 2.0 GHz at £399 then these are two great laptops. Both are more powerful than a Celeron chip.

  • Hi there

Can anyone offer guidance to me please?

My 11 year old would love a laptop for Christmas but I'm unsure what to look for. I think he'd like it to play pc games, online games and he also loves an animation website he uses. Graphics, etc is not something I understand but when I was buying my desktop I was told the graphics on it was basic.

    Many thanks in anticipation

As mentioned above for £399 you could get:

    HP 6735s Laptop, AMD AthlonTM X2 Dual Core QL-60 1.9GHz, 4GB memory, 250GB HDD, DVD+-RW SMDL LightScribe writer, Webcam 15.4" WXGA (1280 x 800) WLAN Bluetooth

It does have an on-board graphics card but for a price tag this cheap it'll be hard to find a decent graphics card, decent amount of memory and from a decent brand. So overall it's not a bad deal by any stretch. In fact, for the money there's a massive amount of RAM. It really depends how graphics intensive his games might be i.e. a new 3D shootem up might have not look that great but older games or less graphics intensive should be fine.
