Best PAYG dialup for use on Smartphone??

Hi I have a windows media based smart phone currently connect to virgin mobile. Just discovered I can get full internet access through a dial up connection. My present internet provider is NTL (cable), would like to have it so I can recieve email, from my home account if possible.
Also it would be nice to have an idea virgin will charge to connect to specific dialup?
So any suggestion on the cheapest option greatfully recieved

    Wouldn't wap/gprs/3g options be cheaper than paying per minute?

    And some ISPs have your phone number as part of the account details, so I'm not sure if other access will be enabled.
