HI all
Ive just contacted orange and my 12 month contract ends on the 12/1/06. I have my pac code (just arrived now) i will move to another network (maybe take the e530 offer from the link), but i have a couple of questions
1) As my contract ends on the 12th, when is the earliest i can buy another contract, i.e. from today or do i have to wait until the 12th?
2) As you know orange bill a month in advance for the line rental, the guy from orange says 30 days notice, so despite the fact i wont use the phone (i will be on with another network) from the sounds of it my 17.50 is gone, is this correct too? my bills are on the 28th , if this helps
Many thanks and a happy new year!

sorry not sure what you mean, my exisiting 12m contact ends on 12/1/06, the new contract will be for 18m (if i take up the offer), is this important?
many thanks0 -
You can organise another contract now to start when you officially leave orange
We have just got our PAC codes from orange (it took two weeks) we leave them on the 3rd of feb (i presume midnight) and go on with our new provider overnight.
I would imagine that you are right about the 17.50
Out of curousity which provider are going to?0 -

thats strange i got my pac in less than one minute, when i rang this evening.
I think i will go for the Samsung e530 offer with the link, it is back on again and costs £24 over the 18months, after cashback. I will sign up with quidco and that’s another £20 after fee, so £4 over 18m isn’t bad!

the PAC code is the equivalent of your 30 days notice, if you hand it in today to new netowrk, in 7 days (approx) you will switch to new network but still be liable for 23 days rental with Orange. Hand it to the new network on day 20/21 and you will transfer on 28th day approx leaving you only liable for a couple of days Orange rental you can't use0

Thanks for the reply, come to think of it i am currently using the month in advance, as my last bill was on the 28th of dec, therefore that bill includes line rental uppo the 27th of January.
So i think i will do as you say woby_tide and wait till around the 20th then transfer, this should ensure i have the last laugh with orange, who offered my a k300i as an 'upgrade' when i already have i k500i, and they wanted £19 per month for 60 X network mins!! Obviously 6 years of loyalty is nothing for orange.0 -
Woby_Tide wrote:It's a sort of manual process so will happen during the day of the 3rd of Feb not overnight, usually around late morning/early afternoon you may start getting intermittent signal on current phone and your new phone will become active and any outgoing calls and texts will have your new number on them. Incoming calls to your number will go to old phone or to answer phone. Then sometime in afternoon/evening your old phone will stop altogether and just display "SIM registration failed" and your new phone will be able to make/receive calls and texts. Be aware that at some point you may be able to make/receive calls and texts during the 3rd
We are taking our current no's with us.The new network said it would be overnight but we weren't convinced.
Thanks for the above .We run our own bussiness so everyone will be carrying two phones that day lol or in my DH's case 4 .This is going to be fun trying to explain to the staff how it happens.0 -

Nor is 10 years and a £600 per month spend .Last month we wanted to upgrade a phone which was last upgraded in Oct 2003.They wouldn't allow it as it wasn't used enough!!.
Superb CS0 -
A guy at my work had to cancel his orange contract and then get a new one with them with a new number in order to get the phone he wanted for free, madness!Quit smoking 18/08/070
