I've been using FX for 5 years to send money to NZ and they have always been excellent. Once the set-up has been gone through the process is quick and efficient. However, a friend has told me that TransferWise offers a better rate - has anyone here any experience of them please?
Thanks for any input!0 -

Hi, I'm hoping someone can offer some advice...... I am due to receive approximately €15000 from an inheritance in Ireland and it will be paid into my irish bank account. I somehow need to transfer this into my UK bank account and into GBP. I realise I can just ask the irish bank to transfer for me but I'm concerned about losing a lot on fees and poor exchange rates. I've noticed some of these specialist companies offering to handle foreign money transfers at better than bank exchange rates. Is this the sort of company I should be looking into or is the bank route the best bet??
Thanks in advance

Before asking you did read the article and some discussion, did you not?
If you did, then yes, sending money from abroad to UK is, generally, no different from sending from UK to abroad. Similarly, 'the bank route' is the most expensive, although the simplest and most reliable.
Also, you have noticed links to mycurrencytransfer.com and fxcompared.com that compare different brokers and to transferwise.com that is worth checking too if the above comparison sites don't cover it.0 -
Thanks Grumbler, yes I read the article and although it talks about transfers I wasn't sure if it was talking about transfers to other people. My transfer is from my irish bank account to my uk bank account. So I will make contact with some of these companies and find out more...
