If my local exchange is LLU'd do I still have to pay BT a monthly line rental or can I cut them out altogether?
Wanting ADSL but no need for a land line. !!!!!!ed if I want to pay for something I don't need. Just want ADSL only.

ADSL operates over landlines. The wire from the exchange to your house is BT's, and you rent it. You can of course choose to pay your line rental to your LLU operator, and possibly get a better deal that way.
Personally I'd stick with BT.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
LLU so I've been told is meant to give a better bb speed, but changing from LLU back to non LLU can be expensive so you could be stuck with just a couple of crappy isp's.
I personally think you have alot more choice of providers on a non LLU service, with a BT line rental, its the way I've gone.

Do you know what providers are in your area? If not check out

As previous posts have suggested you do need a landline, unless you want to try mobile broadband (good for basic e-mail and surfing only). By the way the L in ADSL stands for line!
I'm by no means a BT fan but one advantage of getting your line rental and broadband from them is that they don't apply regional pricing. You can get 12 months line rental and they also do 12 month broadband but the best prices are on 18 month contracts.
Good luck0
